It's one of my oldest memories. I think something like this probably happened before this time, but this is the time I remember so strongly. Everything about it shaped who I am for good and for bad.

I think we were running in the house which was bad enough, but the real sin was that I was wearing my mama's tiara. It was like a princess crown. It sparkled and had silvery filigree of leaves and flowers. I was pretending to be the fairy princess and Austin was the brave ranger. My father had just come home from work and I ran to show him my 'costume'. I guess I still had some since of trust and love or at least a desire to have those things for him. I don't even remember seeing his hand move. I just remember the sting in my cheek and falling to the ground. I did see the hand rise up to hit me again. And I remember my brother, my brave, beautiful brother, stand in the way. He put his little, fragile child's body between the me and the monster. He gave my brother such a beating that day and I lost trust in anything other than Austin. It took years for me to trust anyone else. I might seem to trust easily to many people here, but that trust harder than you can ever imagine. While trust is hard to believe in, bravery is easy. It's easy because I've seen it first hand. I lived with and love the bravest man I will ever know.

My dad. I mean there's other people too, but my dad is the one I think about when I have to make decisions. He's the one I want to make proud of me. He's the one I try to remember when I feel like I can't take another step. He was a cool dude. He knew how to design and build houses. But he was soft too. He knew how to listen quietly and then tell you what you needed whether it was what you wanted or not. He would hug me and tell me that everything would be alright. He never lied to me and that's how I know that somehow everything is going to be alright.

Another one of those people is my brother. He took over from my dad and did the best he could for me when he was so young and grieving too. He's a special person. I figure there are a lot of people that will tell you that. He's strong and kind. If any of you ever have any trouble, I'm telling you right here and right now, Danny Andrews will help you.

I've got a lot of great friends here and I don't want anyone to feel snubbed or something. I love you all a fucking lot. Kyla, Kurt, Jamie, JB you're so awesome and I feel freakin' lucky to have you in my life, but for this thing I have to talk about Matt. He took me under his wing when he was facing his own shit and when I was in a very dark place. He didn't care that I was being prickly and weird. He gave me tea and books and a safe place to be when no where else feels safe. Not even my own head. Love you man.

Do titles count? Probably not. Daddy's always felt like more of a nickname than a title, though.

Mama did, when I was a kid, and no I'm not sharing it. But sometimes she still breaks it out, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't like that.

Interesting question. I guess my relationship with my gender has deepened, since getting my Dom mark. I always knew that was the mark I was destined to get. I equated my identity as a man with my ability to dominate with a look, which isn't to say other genders can't do the exact same thing.
