well, the creator himself likened it to a child.  What he (and I) meant was that Max’s view of sex and intimacy are literally “ew yuck cooties”.  Yet he IS old enough to understand relationships (and even had a few himself).  He is not child-minded when it comes to everything else (still, it’s quite disturbing going into the tag and seeing explicit porn of him - not in a “isn’t he underage?” way, but in a heartbreaking “i thought he was ace” way).

Papyrus is similar, because Toby described him as “too innocent” to know about sex.  You can take that how you want.  A lot of aces accept these as valid reasons for the character being asexual; some do not.  I think the truth of the matter is, we’re so starved for representation, we’ll take what we can get.

You want my example? Go into the Sam and Max tag.  Max is canonically asexual - his creator implied that Max has a ‘child-like’ mentality towards relationships and sex in general, making him not only asexual BUT aromantic!

Sans and Papyrus are two others.  Toby Fox specifically said that the bone bros are asexual - that Pap has Max’s child-like ideals towards it and that Sans ‘just doesn’t care’.
