Your post about the ace/gay/slut stuff is right and thanks for making it. But as a allosexual autistic person who hears "childish" so often used in a way that degrades my demographic, is it really right to use "child-like" to say that a character is ace? I know those characters ARE canonically ace but is that an okay term to use?? If someone said "this character is autistic bc theyre childish" id be pissed. but i'm not ace so i thought i'd ask instead of assuming. this is an honest question btw
well, the creator himself likened it to a child.  What he (and I) meant was that Maxâs view of sex and intimacy are literally âew yuck cootiesâ.  Yet he IS old enough to understand relationships (and even had a few himself).  He is not child-minded when it comes to everything else (still, itâs quite disturbing going into the tag and seeing explicit porn of him - not in a âisnât he underage?â way, but in a heartbreaking âi thought he was aceâ way).
Papyrus is similar, because Toby described him as âtoo innocentâ to know about sex.  You can take that how you want.  A lot of aces accept these as valid reasons for the character being asexual; some do not.  I think the truth of the matter is, weâre so starved for representation, weâll take what we can get.
I can understand how someone with autism can take âchildishâ as an insult, and iâm sorry that people have said that to you and others with autism.  Reacting the way a child might react is not a sign of inferiority, and it doesnât mean that the person reacting is less capable or knowledgeable about anything else in the world.  Itâs just you being you.  That doesnât make it okay to call anyone âchildishâ, of course, especially not with any offensive intent.
