Happy birthday Alice! Today marks the 150th anniversary of the publication of Lewis Carroll’s beloved work Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The classic tale of a little girl and her very big adventure is the basis for one of Central Park’s most beloved climbing sculptures. Sculpted byJose de Creeft, 'Alice in Wonderland’ depicts Alice holding court from her perch while the Mad Hatter hosts one of his famous tea parties. Located at the north end of Conservatory Water, the sculpture features lines from Carroll’s nonsensical poem, The Jabberwocky. Alice is cared for by Central Park Conservancy’s art conservation team.
