to the south of old towne, small (by modern standards) farms dot the area to the west of old towne dubbed the emerald plains. gaining its name from the lush green that overtakes the area during the summer growing season, the plains supplies most of the food to juniper valley. the emerald plains co op was started in 1987 when the farming families came together to provide the valley with a farmer's market. since 1987 the co op outgrew it's original courtyard and stalls and now has building for year long business that extends beyond fresh produce and food. local artisans can also rent space in the co op to sell their wares on the weekend.

at the very heart of juniper valley lies the original settlement, affectionately called old towne. what was once nothing more than a main street, has expanded into a small network of local shops, official buildings, and a unique set of residences built into whatever space was available at the time. you'll find that there's a number of people that live in buildings with their businesses on the ground floor and their apartments on the second floor as you walk down the brick paved roads of old towne. if juniper valley had a tourist center, it would be old towne. thankfully the locals don't have to contend with any of that nonsense.

general reserves are open

the bluffs to the north get their name from the unparalleled views of the stars if you're brave enough to venture up there. the cosmic bluffs are by far the least populated area of juniper valley. there's hardly anything ominous about them, it's mostly due to the fact that most people want to take the time to schlep down from the mountains to restock in town. there's nothing to do up there other than hike, fish, and hunt. but if you have a weekend and you're on the adventurous side, it might be worth it just to take in the views.

heading east out of old towne, it won't take you long to see blue on the horizon. mirror beach got its name from the earily and impossibly clear waters of the near by ocean. there are plenty of folk tales that try to explain crystal clear waters, but no one can give you a scientific one. you'll find that the residents will simply shrug and continue to enjoy their day on the beach. historically, shipping and fishing have been the main sources of revenue from the beach; however, homes, restaurants and bed and breakfasts have popped up near the beach in recent years. the gorgeous views are great for business.

the western border of juniper valley extends through the twilight forest. an old growth forest with more secrets than trees, you won't find a lot of people willing to venture too far into it. weird things have been known to happen in the forest, or so people say. the source of which has mostly been attributed to alleged forest spirts. while the general consensus of the forest spirits leans more towards chaotic than nefarious, the more superstitious folks aren't willing to risk walking too far into the forest. as a result you'll find that most of the campsites, trails, and cabins don't dive too deep into the forest.
