they first meet (officially; they’re both roku’s advisees so they’ve heard of each other but somehow haven’t met in person yet) in the same sedimentary geology course in junior year of undergrad. it takes a couple weeks but they end up as lab partners and jj therefore gets absorbed into piandao’s weird queer friend group. and they’re both into each other but are fundamentally dumb gay nerds and even tho they basically spend the rest of the semester going on study dates (that they refuse to admit are dates) it takes until the fieldwork trip itself for anything to happen. “anything” = sneaking off in the middle of the night to stargaze and maaaybe make out a little bit and it’s soft and sweet (with a little bit of Chaos to balance it all out) bc it’s what they deserve
this will be expounded upon in full fic form (it’s all plotted out and everything all i gotta do is actually write the thing) and all i can say about that is oh boy buddy you got a big storm comin ;)
