1. Tag yourself: what is 5 key words describe yourself.
#curator, #seafood, #travel, #acnes, #fruits
2. Your likes and dislikes in food/drinks:
Everything is fine with me.
3. Have you been to Korea?
- If you have, how many times, when? What is your impression?
Yes, Roadshow is my third time to be there. To see several art events were impressed me a lot as we are just in starting point to grow contemporary art in Myanmar.
4. You might heard about Roadshow briefly, what is the point that you decide to join?
To me, it is a good platform to experience the arts and culture of Korea partly and a sharing network between artists and the curator. It is always good to travel to learn and to share.
5. We will traveling together with artists, what is your expectation?
I want to learn from every single one and share what I have.
6. What makes you a curator?
Having no professional curator in Myanmar made me to be. Loving art and wanting to promote Myanmar arts encourage me to be a curator.
7. Can you describe one sentence about ideal relationship between artists and curator?
It’s hard to say. Like two birds with one wing in each and can fly together. Cut sometimes, it is like the kite and the kite runner. Sometimes they fly together but one let the other fly.
8. What is (contemporary) Art for you?
It is the word which is still confuse to our art society. To me, it is like what Picasso said, “Some painters transform the sun into a yellow spot, others transform a yellow spot into the sun.”
9. Can you tell us about your best exhibition in your life? And why?
It is really hard to choose to identify what the best is and to mention the reason why. Some exhibitions, I was impressed by their approach and the presentation and some even made me think about it for long time. Last year in Singapore, I visited an exhibition in Gilman Barak. That was the solo exhibition of Cambodian artist Khvay Samnang. The photography of the families in the old buildings where going to be occupied, made me not only to think about his approach, emotion and his presentation but also to think a lot about the word “Art for people”.
As an emerging curator, my best exhibitions are not coming yet. I’ve tried the previous ones to be good and learnt the experiences.
10. If you have to choose one of your exhibition, which you would like to introduce to us?
I would like to introduce “Art Village” a project what we are developing to encourage Myanmar artists and to provide a platform for the artists from other countries to experience Myanmar art scene and work with Myanmar artists.
