depends. do you already have stats n stuff and a system or is this just a story rpg? if the latter then dont bother unless its helps quirk the story. like all of sudden an applebloom comes out of nowhere
well i already put like...eight or nine enemy encounters in the game (including a boss fight)
but those existing encounters all happen when you run into enemies on the map like in earthbound and chrono trigger and whatnot
on the one hand i really do prefer being able to see enemies on the map but on the other hand it would just be so easy to paint a big chunk of the map with the region editor and tell the game to randomly trigger battles with certain enemy groups instead of predetermining every battle
