I have studied the the Hawks stans for a solid while now, and my professional verdict is this:
Hawks stans that also hate him:
1000/10, makes amazing content, doesn’t let it show that they find him annoying because they love him more than they hate him, usually ships dabihawks which is a plus, just, please be my friends, all of you???
Hawks stans that also thirst for him, but in a self aware and funny sort of way:
10/10, I personally don’t see it, but good for you, your public thirsting makes you braver than I could ever dream to be, you’re also usually really funny, and I think you’re the coolest
Hawks simps that seriously wants to date him and write/read self inserts etc:

A/N: Well... I’m tired and pissed off. So we’ll see where this takes us. Just gotta find a good playlist, and write some shit. I don’t know when I’ll end up posting this. I usually post right after I’m done writing/proofreading it. And this will hopefully be kinda long. Wonder if I can go to Starbucks... (Also, that POV I wrote about saying bye to your comfort character, it’s also a YT comment on the playlist. So if you find it, it wasn’t stolen. Unless it was by someone. Then that’s plus ultra rude.)
As always, if you are struggling in any kind of way, please reach out for help. It doesn’t make you weak or a burden. Reaching out for help is actually a brave and incredible thing to do. It’s not easy being vulnerable around people. Stay safe please.

Hawks’ gentle gaze regarded you for a moment as you slept softly in his arms. Tears were slowly rolling down your cheeks and he wiped them away with a little sigh. “Dove...” He murmured and quickly went silent when your brow furrowed slightly in your slumber. He stayed as still and quiet as possible until your face smoothed over once again.
With the help of his feathers, he stood up and carried you in his arms as he walked. You needed sleep. Anyone could tell that from just looking at you. And look at you he did. His golden amber eyes were soft with sympathy. He watched as your breath came evenly and one of your hands gripped onto his shirt despite your still form.
“Deh go...” You mumbled. A smile crossed over his face. He didn’t respond and instead let his wings lift both you and him off of the ground. He soared through the air, the silence getting to him. If Rumi were with him right now she would call him an idiot. But what else was he supposed to do? He didn’t know.
Eventually the hero landed on a balcony and used his feathers to open the door as he carried you in. The penthouse was fairly clean, but mostly looked unlived in. Which he supposed could be a good term for it. He normally spent all his time at his agency or running missions for the commission. So maybe he spent a couple nights a week at his home and the rest of the time he just slept wherever and whenever he could. Overworked? Maybe. Work addict? Yeah. Most definitely. That whole aloof attitude towards his work was mostly just for publicity. And judging by the approval ratings, it was working. He really did want to make the world a place that heroes had too much time on their hands. Maybe then he’d be able to relax.
He set you down on a couch and carefully detangled your hand from his shirt. Then he squatted by your feet and took your shoes off for you. The winged man stood up and looked at you with a worried expression before taking off his own shoes and jacket. He sat down in a chair and his wings wrapped around himself. He wasn’t looking forward to how he would explain to you why you were in a strange place upon waking up. He would have left your shoes on to assure you that nothing happened. But sleeping in shoes... not always the most comfortable thing in his experience. And he had plenty of experience.
Meanwhile in your dreamland, things were as soft as he might have thought.
You stood in your room watched the crimson drops roll down your leg and go onto the floor. Likely going to stain it if you didn’t clean it up quickly. Your blank gaze just regarded the deep cuts on your thigh as if you were looking at a project at a science fair. That’s what dissociation would do to someone, so how could anyone be surprised? You could hear the muffled sound of rain on the other side of the window, but even that was more muffled than it had any right to be. The small blade dropped from your fingers, the sharp side also having a thin trail of your blood on it from the multiple times it slid across your skin.
The corners of your lips twitched. Imagine... if you had a quirk like Rapunzel’s from that old Disney movie. You could just sing a song and heal yourself. You left your room, a small limp in your step as you entered the bathroom, leaving a small little blood trail as you went. You were in no rush as you pulled out bandages to cover your wounds. The you just let your body slowly sink to the floor. Every so lightly, your forefinger touched you cheek, only to find it wet. Crying. How interesting. Why were you crying? The stinging pain hadn’t set in quite yet. It was just a dull thump.
This was a memory. Not a dream. Right. What would happen next again? Or did you just have to let this play out? Probably the latter. Your mind figuratively sat back and let the memory run the course, slowly entering that dark place that it always did when you remember stuff like this. It wasn’t exactly what one would call pleasant.
“Dove?” A familiar voice called out. You could hear your own self answer.
“Don’t.” Such similar words, only a two letter difference. The bathroom door opened to reveal a blond figure with brilliant wings tucked tightly to his back. His golden amber eyes looked at you slumped figure as he released a sigh. Wait. He wasn’t supposed to be here.
His hand enclosed around one of your and he brought it to his lips to place a kiss to a couple of your knuckles.
“Dove.. I thought I explained this.” His voice sounded tired. So tired. It made you want to laugh. What a pair the two of you were.
“No. You explained how falling does nothing for me.” You said, your eyes finally meeting his. His brow was furrowed in confusion.
“And how is harming yourself different from what you wanted to fall to?”
“It’s not permanent.” You replied, the corners of your lips twitching again. Hawks let got of your hand and gently uncurled your legs to look at the bloodied bandages and the mismatched scars that littered the skin. His gloved fingers touched one before looking back up at your eyes. Well, he tried to. You refused to match his gaze.
“I would call this permanent, chickadee.” You didn’t give him a response. “Maybe not fatal... yet. But still permanent. It doesn’t help you.”
“It brings relief.” You spat out. He didn’t understand. And Hawks seemed to realize that’s what you were thinking. He shed his jacket and gently took off his own shirt. Different sized scars were placed randomly over his skin.
“None of these brought me any kind of relief.” He murmured before putting his shirt back on. “And you and I both know that you’re feeling no thing of relief right now.” He was right. You weren’t feeling relief. You were feeling nothing. And that’s as close as you could get. But it wasn’t the kind of numbness that hopelessness brought. It was the kind of numbness that apathy did. You curled your legs up to you again.
“I can’t make you stop, kid.” He said. There was a slight pause, but you didn’t nothing to fill it, even going as far to hold your breath. Hawks continued. “You need to that yourself. But please... isn’t there someway I could help you. I hate seeing you hurt.” You could hear the ring of truth in his words, and that just caused you to stand up and press your back into the wall. Your wide eyes watched him as he stood up, his coat pulled over a folded arm. He took a step towards you, the other hand raising to caress your cheek.
“Don’t go...” You murmured. A small smirk crossed over his face as he leaned his forehead against yours.
“I ain’t going anywhere.” He whispered back as his lips pressed against your own. It was as light as a ghost and over before you could think about it.
“Wait!” You called, reaching for him as he took a couple steps back. “K-Kiss me like you mean it...” You added quietly as his head tilted. He smiled at you. The same smile that could stop anyone’s heart that had a thing for the man.
“Guess you’ll have to add a real kiss from me to your list of motivations, huh?” He said, his tone still gentle but with a hint of teasing. “Now come on dove. Let me help you.”
Your eyes cracked open to see a beam of sunlight on an empty coffee table that had a sheet of glass in the middle. The wood bordering it was a dark color with a slight red tint. And it was most definitely not yours. You pushed yourself up, half expecting there to be a soft sting in your thigh. But there was nothing. You stood up gingerly nonetheless. You padded around the room, your socked feet barely making a sound on the honey wood covered floors. You had no idea what time it was, and maybe you should be worried about that. You did have a job after all. But you just couldn’t seem to care about something so material. Were you going to get fired at this point? Yeah...t hat thought still didn’t bring up anything.
It’s like you were wrapped up in a warm blanket of comfort. You wanted to linger in it’s warmth. It had been so long since you woke up feeling that. Mental health break right? Right.
On an ordinary morning you would rub the sleep from your heavy eyelids, but you just let it linger there as much as it will. On one of the chairs there was a coat that had faux white fur lining the edges of it. It was tan and had black buttons and it took your mind a few moments to recognize it as Hawks’ hero uniform jacket. Your fingertips drifted over the soft white fur. You found a red feather nestled close to it. It wasn’t very big, maybe half the size of your hand. You knew there were larger feather nestled in those wings of his. There were rumors going around that some were half of the man’s height.
You heard a door open from somewhere within the penthouse and your head turned to watch Hawks come in through the balcony doors. His wings flexed before nestling comfortably against his back. His golden amber eyes seemed to scan around him before landing on you.
“Morning dove.” He said, his voice just as smooth as always. Yu didn’t respond, your lips feeling to heavy to move. So you just watched him as he put down a bag on the coffee table. The feather in your hold trembled slightly and you could tell Hawks was looking at it. Silently, you held it out towards him. Hawks seemed to understand what you were asking as he waved his hands. “No. Keep it. It’s not exactly like I don’t have lots.” He seemed to add something silently before shooting you a smile and opening the bag. “Anyways, I got some food for us. I didn’t know when you were going to wake up and you seemed to be sleeping nicely.”
Nicely. That’s not exactly how you would put your dream. You pried apart your lips to respond. You voice was slightly hoarse, and you weren’t exactly sure why. “I dreamt about you. It was weird.” You said as you moved towards him. Hawks looked over at you.
“Oh? How so, chickadee?”
“You messed with a memory. But... in a nice way.” Why were you telling him this? It didn’t make any sense and it seemed weird. But you didn’t seem able to stop. “You took care of me. And apparently you did that outside of my dream too.” You looked at his face closely and saw the slight color change on his skin. He was flushing?
“Uh... yeah. I guess so. Sorry about that by the way. I didn’t want to just barge into your home, but I didn’t want to wake you up either.” A slight flash of debate crossed over his expression, but it was gone and he seemed to find the answer to his question. You just nodded and sat down at the coffee table and dug in the bag yourself. You pulled out a carton of food and opened it. The smell of chicken yakitori reached your nose and your lips twitched.
“So you really do eat lots of chicken.” You said, raising an eyebrow as you looked up at the hero. Hawks laughed, a sound that came from his chest.
“Yeah. I guess so. Ru- pardon me, Miruko constantly teases me about it. Do you want some coffee or tea?” You shook your head and Hawks nodded before walking away. His booted feet made soft clacks on his floor. You picked up one of the thin sticks and pulled off a piece of the chicken off with your teeth. You chewed as you watched him return with a mug and sit down across from you. His wings fluttered as they readjusted and then lay still once again.
“What’s it like? Having wings?” You asked as Hawks pulled off his gloves and grabbed a stick for himself. He chewed thoughtfully and pushed up the yellow tinted visors that protected his eyes when flying.
“At first?” A dark expression filled his face before it was pushed away. “It was weird. I was born with them, just like everyone else with a mutation quirk. And mutants aren’t exactly treated nicely. So as a kid I didn’t understand why the fact I had wings mattered. I made a few friends, but that didn’t last for a super long time.” Your brow furrowed. You knew that he was right, and you didn’t like the fact that he was treated badly, but he seemed to choose his words carefully. As if he was scared of saying something. He could be honest with you, he knew that didn’t he? “There was a time when I resented having them. But flying... that’s just something I could never give up.” A smile crossed his face as he continued to talk between bites. “Now I like them. I can fly as fast as I want, and save so many people with just a few feathers. It helps. And then of course there’s the fact they can be... weaponized. So yeah. Having wings can be annoying. But it’s worth it.”
You nodded and finished eating yours. You contemplated grabbing another but decided against it. You pushed the half empty yakitori carton towards Hawks. He gave you a confused look, but didn’t push for you to explain. You liked that about him. He wasn’t pushy. You stood up and looked down at the hero.
Hawks didn’t like the sad expression on your face. Had he done something? Or was it something that was inside your mind. “Chickadee?” He questioned and stood up as well as you moved towards your shoes, pulling them on.
“I should go.” You said flatly. He took a step towards you and saw your face flash close to something of pain. Hawks realized he had his own stricken expression on his face and fixed it force a smile on it.
“Right. Uhm... do you need a ride somewhere or something?” You shook your head and Hawks could feel his heart sink a tiny bit lower.
“No. Thank you. I can... I can get a cab or something. Uhm...” You paused and looked around. Finding a pen you pulled his hand towards you and wrote down a number. “Let me treat you to a meal sometime. To make up for being such a hassle.” His hand moved faster than his brain did and grabbed onto your wrist.
“You’re not a hassle, Y/N.” he said seriously. “I enjoyed myself. With all the time I spent with you.” You just nodded and avoided his eyes and he let go of you. And once again, Hawk’s saw your back as you walked away from him. He could still feel the feather you held, and felt you tighten your hold on it. Hawks waited a few moments before going to his balcony and leaning over the side. He could easily pick you out from the crowd on the streets. “Until we meet again.” He murmured softly, giving you a gentle wave.
You held the red feather and watch it droop a little before perking back up. You heard of some fans putting his feathers on necklaces or earrings to always have them. You thought about that and just decided on a bracelet. That way you could hold it easily and quickly. Hawks was a hero and he gave you the feather. He wouldn’t mind you grabbing comfort from his feather... right?

A/N: Jesus. This took me two days to write. But here you go. I’m going to try to make a masterlist for this, so just be patient? Anyway, I found a really good song for when I write this so it’s on repeat. TvT
Hope you enjoyed, please stay safe. And have a sweet hawks image, because there was some hard stuff in this chapter.
A/N: At long last it has arrived! Not me waiting for my friend to get off the phone so we can go to the movie theaters and playing Tourner Dans Le Vide bye Indila on repeat. I fucking love that song. Ever since elementary french class. T-T Anyways, I read the last part and have a small idea. I’m going to hope that I can follow a slight character plot but also have character development for Y/n. This also seems like a popular storyline thing, so why not. Hope yall enjoy! (I feel like it might be slightly popular because of the fact of being able to relate to it. I want to write something to explain why I chose Hawks to be this Y/n’s partner instead of other comfort characters, but not yet.)
TW: Suicidal ideations, depressive thoughts, cursing, alcohol mentions, implied past drug use, 13+
As always, if you struggle with anything like this, please seek help from a professional and let the people who care about you know. It won’t help if you don’t have anyone to help you and talk to. Please please please stay safe everybody.

You opened your eyes, unaware that you had even begun to close them. From the angle that Hawks held you within his arms, you had a clear view of his jawline. It was clenching and unclenching and a small part of you whispered that it was because he was uncomfortable with you being so close. You pulled your gaze away from his face to look at your hands clenching the fabric of his shirt. Then slowly, very slowly, you turned your gaze to the cityscape once again below you.
More lights flickered out as it got deeper into the night. Or was it early morning now? Eh. It didn’t really matter. That light feeling still made your chest warm and tight.
“Hey... Hawks?” You said softly. He made no move of hearing you. You let out a puff of air that tickled the skin on his neck, causing him to regard you. “Do you trust me?” You asked, turning his own words back onto him. He paused his flying to have you both just hovering up in the air.
“Of course, dove. Why?” He asked, his voice like his feathers. Soft and light, but the potential to turn into a hard edge.
“Drop me.” You said, your voice stern. You weren’t scared of dying. But it had you wondering if the stories you heard were true. Did people regret it when it was becoming too late? His arms tightened around your waist and back.
“What? Absolutely not. I’m not going to do that.” He said. Ah. There it was. That hard edge you knew his voice could form. You let go of his shirt to grab behind you onto his wrists.
You were so delicate when you looked at him like that. Normally someone being calm was good in his line of work. But the calmness that flickered in your dull eyes scared him. He tightened his hold again as he felt your fingers try to pry his hands away from you. He could feel your spine.
“Why not?” Your voice, even now when he was scared still sounded so beautiful and musical. He drew his brows together to regard you heavily.
“I’m not going to let you try to hurt yourself. Isn’t that clear already?” He asked. And despite his harsh sounding words, his tone was gentle. He watched a bitter smile fill your expression and felt that rush of fear again, matching with confusion.
“Stop being a hero and let me drop. I want to hear the rush of air.” You said. Hawks continued to flap his large wings before folding them against his back, still holding tightly onto you. The two of you fell quickly through the dark sky, and he kept his eyes on your face. He watched as the wind ripped tears from your eyes and a scream got caught in your throat. He watched as the tops of buildings started to appear above you and estimated how close the ground was to hitting his back. “Hawks-” You breathed and he could feel your body shaking. He let you both continue falling for a few more moments before his wings spread again, snapping you both back into the air a few feet. Then with several powerful wingbeats you both were standing on the cracked pavement of the sidewalk.
“That’s what falling feels like, chickadee.” He whispered to you. And he seemed to know that you didn’t want him to let go. He sank to the ground, still holding you as you sobbed into his shoulder. “There’s no relief behind it. Only groundless emptiness. No support. No one there. You can try to grab the air but it just rushes past you.”
“Stop.” You whimpered, but he kept going. And you knew he needed to.
“No dove. You don’t understand it. I don’t know what you’re going through. But the air and the ground aren’t going to solve any of it.” Then his voice went silent and he just held you. You knew he wanted to say more, and you both knew that you weren’t ready to hear it.
What he was doing was making you mad. But it also made more sense. He wanted to help you, and maybe this was the only way he could think of it. You didn’t notice your eyes closing, or your body slipping into an easy sleep for the first time in a while.

A/N: Sorry for the abrupt end and how short it is. I’m behind in some classes, so I have to get those done after the movies. So stay safe everyone! (I’m not gonna sleep tonight WHOOT WHOOT!)
A/N: Heyo! It’s late and I’m bored and sad. So here. Have the gender-neutral fluff.
And just in case... 13+ or some shit like that. Mainly for cursing instances. And this is written in Hawks’s perspective and yours.
TW! It does deal with thoughts of feeling like a burden. If you deal with these, please reach out to someone! Everyone has a reason for being on this Earth, and you have people who care about you and want to help you any way they can. It also contains mentions of alcohol and alcoholism.

Keigo held his breath as he soared through the air smoothly. His brilliant wings were stretched out beside him, flapping to keep him aloft in the air. He wasn’t holding his breath for any specific reason of course. He just didn’t know what else to do.
Oh trust him, he knew patrolling duty was important but it could be so boring if there wasn’t any action. And what was the point? It’s not as if real villains were dumb enough to attack during the middle of the afternoon. So mainly the crimes that needed to be solved were petty ones.
Every now and then you’d get a big one. But that was rare. Usually. Sometimes.
The dirty blond let out the air he had been holding it to sigh and readjusted the yellow visors that covered his golden amber eyes. His orbs lowered the the ground below him. He had a birds eye view of everything of course, and he was higher up. It made the details even harder to recognize. But he still looked before tucking in his wings closer to head down to the ground once again.
His booted feet landed on the pavement of the sidewalk and he allowed himself a soft smile before whistling to himself with a low volume as he walked. Keigo’s eyes scanned around him as he greeted anyone who recognized him. Thankfully they knew not to swarm around him. On duty after all.
Okay... so maybe that was an upside to patrolling during the day after all. Be seen and get better approval ratings, but also not be swarmed. Huh. Who knew?
Meanwhile you were running. Not by choice. But the damn bus had just... left you. You were sure it had seen you! After all, with your light manipulation quirk, you stood out.
“OH COME ON!” You shouted at the vehicle as it just left you behind. A huff escaped your lips as your arms crossed. “This... this... ugh!” Anger bubbled in your throat, cutting you off from actually being able to form or finish that sentence. Just fucking perfect! This was exactly what you needed. Your day had already been going bad and now you weren’t able to take your bus. You worked in the city, but lived on the outskirts. You preferred the quiet it offered. And that was the last bus going out that far until a few hours later. You didn’t want to walk that far. But you had some groceries that needed to be cooled down soon. So what the hell were you supposed to do??
Another growl ripped itself from your lips as you stomped away. Maybe if you found air conditioning? You didn’t have any friends that you would allow yourself to bother. You already felt like a burden enough everyday. This would just worsen it.
Burden. That word circled around your mind. It was just as bad as worthless when it came to the way it adjusted how you felt. The anger faded away, replaced with the sadness. Why had you just thought of that word so damn easily?
Your top front teeth worried at your bottom lip as you walked, fingers clutching at the plastic handles of the grocery bags. At some point you just sat down on the sidewalk, your back pressed against a building. Confusion painted itself over you. There was times where you just felt like you were drifting through.
You think you preferred the rush of anger from earlier. It woke you up more. Damn it all, sometimes these would just hit and change your mood so dramatically, it scared you. You had no control over your emotions anymore.
Hawks handed the paper back to a fan, a smile on his face as he did so. “It was wonderful to meet you, Nikko!” He waved goodbye to them before continuing on his way. Okay. So not all stayed away. But they seemed nice. And they were bragging about the autograph to the friend they were with. They had been to shy to approach the winged pro hero, and Hawks could hear them tell Nikko off between his boasting for bothering Keigo. It made him chuckle.
That dynamic for friends always did. When they were so different but such strong friends. It reminded him of his friendship with Endeavor. If it could be called that. He interlaced his fingers and rested them on the back of his head, leaning into it as he yawned. This was boring. But his booted foot kicked something that sounded like glass and he looked down. A wine bottle. A full one. An unopened one. He squatted down, his wings folded against him and picked it up. His gaze scanned the type of wine before looking for the source it had come from. His eyes landed on you. You were just sitting there, unpacking groceries. You didn’t seem to notice that you had lost one of them.
The hero went over to you and squatted down again, holding out the bottle by the neck with one hand, his other hand supporting under it. Gloves could be slippery, even if the material fought against such a thing. But he didn’t want to risk it. It was a good wine.
“Here. I think you dropped this.” He said, a soft smile playing across his facial features. He blinked as you turned your eyes to his. You looked sad and confused and a little spark of anger burned in your pupils. An interesting combination for someone unpacking groceries on the sidewalk, to be sure. He watched as you placed down what you had been holding to grab the wine.
“Thanks.” Your voice was flat as you thanked him. His smile didn’t falter.
“No problem. Say, you alright?” He asked. It surprised him when a bitter laugh left your lips. He hadn’t been expecting you to laugh. Maybe just look at him blankly or something. Or walk away. Not laugh. But despite it being bitter, it held the potential to be musical and beautiful to his ears. If it had been real, it might have even been contagious.
“Mhm. Just peachy. Why?” Sarcasm laced heavily on your words. Keigo almost laughed himself. You seemed like a prickly one. But before he could respond you looked away again as you continued speaking. “Now I’m sure you have hero work to do or something. So you should go.” Was that disappointment he heard? It was hard to tell. And it was obvious your voice was just remaining flat. Maybe a bit forced. But it seemed like you were just fed up with something or just didn’t care enough to put any other emotion beside bitterness and sarcasm into your voice as you spoke.
But your voice. Keigo wanted to hear it not be flat. It held the same potential as your laugh, but something told him it hadn’t been able to really have that happy sing-song that it could have for a while. It told him something was off. He ignored the hero word statement.
“Can I help you somehow?” He asked instead. You didn’t look at him again. It made the corners of his lips turn downward slightly. Shame.
“I’m fine.” You said, this time dismissively.
“I heard somewhere that fine stands for not so good stuff. So, are you saying you need some help?” Keigo teased softly. You placed the wine bottle down so it wouldn’t roll away this time and hugged your knees, ankles crossed.
“Please... just go and leave me be.” You mumbled quietly. He watched for a moment as you picked at the material of your pants. You sounded in pain this time. What was going on? His smile left his face as concern filled his golden amber eyes. His gloved fingers pushed his golden yellow visor up, pushing some of his hair away from his face to.
“Are you alright?” He asked again, the concern he felt laid out clearly in his voice. He watched in alarm as tears pricked your eyes, gathering on your lashline, but never quite falling. Just sitting there and quivering. Threatening to spill over with each blink of your eyes. He watched in silence as you squeezed your eyes shut and gave a violent little shake of your head.
When you opened your eyes again, the tears were drying up and were quickly gone again.
“Are you alright?” God damn it. This hero sounded so worried about you. It made you feel sick and horrible. You knew he was. Anyone would. Number two hero, winged hero Hawks. He was fast. And he was a big deal. Which meant he was busy.
And here you were, taking up his valuable time with your stupid antics of trying to find the receipt for the groceries. And even more embarrassing, he had to pick up your wine for you. He probably thought you were an alcoholic now, didn’t he?
You could feel your eyes burn and sting with tears. Really? Were you seriously crying? Damn it, you were such a weakling. People who were actually suffering had a reason to cry. You were being selfish. You remembered a trick you had read in a book once and did it. Relief tinged the edges of the storm of emotions in your throat as you felt your eyes dry. Now they just felt a bit itchy from the unshed and now dried up tears. You blinked to relieve that as you just nodded your head. You couldn’t give him a verbal response. There was a few pauses of just silence between the two of you until you felt gentle leather grab your hand and envelope it.
You moved your eyes to your hand and saw that the hero was holding one of your hands, sandwiched between the both of his. You couldn’t bare to look into his face again, so you just stared at the two of you’s hands. Well, his two hands and your one hand. You let it rest there for a few moments before you jerked your hand away and looked down again.
“Here. I’ll help you get your stuff together.” You almost laughed again. It would have either been a choked sound or a hollow one. You almost said you had too many issues to get your shit together until you realized he was talking about the items you had bought. It hadn’t been that much, but they were still spread out around you.
You watched in silence, unable to move, as he opened a bag and carefully placed things in. A soft hum came from his throat as he worked. You didn’t recognize for several moments. When it clicked you almost cried again. It was just a simple lullaby. ‘Mama’s gonna buy you a mocking bird.’ He had his own little spin on it, adding spaces in his hum where more words might have been added or just a nice moment of music instead of lyrics layering over it. It was kind of funny if you thought about it. A bird-featured hero, humming a song about a mockingbird.
And yet, it was so simple and so sweet that it really did make you want to cry.
Distracted in your thoughts, you hadn’t noticed that you were just staring at Keigo.
Keigo picked up the groceries, placing them gently as he subconsciously started to hum. He could feel your eyes on him after a few seconds. But he didn’t look at you or react. He just let you stare as he hummed. Finally when he finished he stayed there on his knees for a couple more seconds before stopping his humming. From his peripheral vision of you, which he soon turned his full gaze to you, the lack of humming had broken you from your trance.
It made him wonder why it looked like you were about to laugh again and sob as he hummed. He knew his voice wasn’t perfect and he could easily forget the right tunes, but it wasn’t that bad.
Keigo double checked himself. Was he doubting himself right now? No. That wouldn’t do. Doubting yourself could so easily lead to making a mistake. And making a mistake in his line of work could cost an innocent life.
“So, where do you live? I can help carry these for you.” He said before standing up with the bags held in his hands. His wings unfolded slightly to help him balance so he could stand up without hands and not have any danger of falling or stumbling. You stood up too. Keigo was surprised to see you were a couple inches shorter than he was. He wasn’t as tall as he liked, which was fun because he made up for it by flying high. But you were at most maybe... three or four inches shorter than him? It made him smile, as stupid as it was to be happy to be taller than someone.
He watched as you extended your hands, silently asking for the bags. “It’s not that far. I can carry them.” Hawks didn’t want to let them go. They were kind of like a last excuse for him to stay here. He wanted to cheer you up. To hear that potential of a laugh that sounded as if it could be so lovely.
But he handed the groceries over with a soft sigh under his breath and pushed down his visors again.
“Alright. I won’t push you. But, be careful alright? Don’t want a chickadee like you getting hurt.” He said softly as he reached over and ruffled your hair. He couldn’t help it. Impulses were strong sometimes. Your head whipped up and you stared at him with wide eyes.
“What-” But suspense was key! So he opened his wings and took off, waving a cheery goodbye to you. But he knew you lived close by here. So if he patrolled this area more often, maybe he’d get to see you again? Maybe get you to give him a genuine smile or laugh?
A bird could hope.

A/N: Hey. I know it was rushed at the end, but I knew what ending I wanted it to have and didn’t know how to get it there. So yeah. There you go. This was originally just supposed to be a one-shot deal and be longer. But I think I might make this have a sequel. Just for shits and giggles.
Chile, anyways. Be safe everyone. Hope you enjoyed. Neato. Imma head out and listen to a Hawks or Dabi playlist or some shit. Maybe cry. Maybe contemplate the fact you can only buy used mirrors. You never know. Cya.
A/N: Well, just finished today’s classes, have a bunch of assignments to do, so I’m just going to sit here on tumblr and write a part two.
The reader is gender neutral, blah blah blah blah. You get the jist.
Trigger Warning! Contains cursing, brief mentions of alcohol, and a feeling of hopelessness. This is fluff, and does contain Hawks flirting with the reader. 13+
Enjoy the story, loves.

Even after Keigo was done with his patrolling duty, he couldn’t stop thinking about them. It was dumb, he knew that. He had no business doing such a thing. He didn’t even know your name and yet you occupied his mind and thoughts. Head empty. Thoughts full of you.
There was no other way to describe his mental state.
The winged hero let his body fall onto his couch, pinching the bridge of his nose before taking off his gloves and tossing them on the coffee table. The visor that was pushed up followed. His coat was set over the back of the couch and boots kicked off. Then he stood up again and went towards one of the window of his apartment. It was high up with a balcony. Useful.
But Hawks just looked out the window towards the direction he believed you lived. “Are you alright out there, kid?” He thought aloud before shaking his head and moving to his bathroom to peel from his hero clothes to take a shower after a long day.
You were sitting on the front steps of your home, the open wine bottle in your hands between your knees. Your eyes were staring at the sky as the setting sun painted it a brilliant red, gold, and yellow. Where the red met the yellow it created orange. Stripes of soft gold blended with the yellow and where it met the orange it reminded you of a certain No. 2 hero. You didn’t understand why he had been so insistent on helping you. Hero be damned, you were just a nobody.
You brought the wine to your lips and took another sip. Your nose wrinkled slightly as you cast your eyes down to your shoed feet on the concrete of your steps. The sound of tree leaves rustling and other subdued sounds filled your ears. But that’s where it ended. Your ears. Your brain was too much of a terrifying dark place. It circled around dark word, making you want to hold your head and scream and cry to try to make it shut up.
But instead you just took another sip, feeling pathetic. Who drank wine on a nice evening on their porch alone? You. That was who. What was it about the way your brain was wired that made you feel alone even if you were in such a large crowd?
You shook your head and stood up and went back inside, letting the screen door fall shut behind you. You left the front door open to be able to let the last warmth of the day leak into your house. You placed the wine on the counter of your kitchen, the darkness filling the corners. You didn’t turn on the lights, letting the windows let natural light in as you put the cork back in the wine. You kicked off your shoes and went to your living room, sitting on the couch and wrapped a light blanket around yourself. Your eyes stared above the TV and just at the wall as your thoughts consumed your attention.
You wished you could say they were pleasant. You wished you could say you thought of dogs and cats and love. You wished you could say you thought of your family that you wanted to visit next weekend. You wished you could say that.
But since when had wishes come true for you? Your eyes burned with tears that refused to show up. So you just lay your body down on the couch and closed your eyes, hoping that you would just drift off into sleep. You didn’t care for how long. You just wanted that relief that sleep brought from your thoughts. The only downside was nightmares. Sometimes you didn’t know what was worse.
Hawks stretched out on his bed, wearing sweatpants over his boxers. His wings were spread out on either side of him. He had his arms stretched above his head, trying to give his sore muscles slight reprieve from the day’s activities. As his tired body let him drift off to sleep his last thought was of you and wondering how your wellbeing was.

A/N: Sorry this was shorter. I do have to get work done and I’ve stalled for the past two weeks now. I’ll make the next part longer. Probably. Hopefully.
Side note, just know that you have people that want to take care of you. Substance abuse won’t make you feel better. Seeking out help, comfort, and support will and is totally valid and okay for you to do!!
