So part of the sucess of Batman had to be the and Robin. It takes hundreds of issues before Dick Grayson moves on, and even then a new Robin takes his place. 

So it’s interesting that we have a lot of the storylines for Dick especially that focuses on him trying to get away from the “and Robin,” but for Bruce we kind of just accept that Batman was always a singular on his own. Except no matter how much he tries to be a lone wolf in the comics eventually someone will say: he needs a Robin for his character to be whole even if the Robin isn’t in the story. 

So although Dick, the original “and Robin” has made a name for himself as Nightwing and although is still pulled into Bat Buisness often he can still function independent of Batman. He’s a guest star now. Important and well loved, but he doesn’t NEED Batman in his story anymore for him to be able to stand alone. Batman on the other hand has many great independent stories without Robin, but he almost always has one. I would argue the “and Robin” sticks to him more firmly than it does to Dick. 

And yet in so many live action takes outside of comics Robin is left out. Every movie is the movie where we watch Martha and Thomas Wayne die and Batman in one way or another is miserable. If there is a Robin he’s aged up with more of a Nightwing on his way to becoming independent vibe (the Burton movies) or a tiny nod to the character without being the character (Nolan verse). The movies try to use romance instead of familial love to fill the hole in Bruce’s heart.  

And that's why he cherishes Spot so much: it's a little more time with her 💖

#7 - I uhhhhh don’t even change the font from the default most times! I’ve changed the themes in Ellipsus (Illium, Wicked Fog, Retrograde, and Aero) to suit my mood, does that count? 😅 (does changing the font help with inspiration? Much to experiment with if true…)

#28 - Least favorite part? Writing endings. Holy GOD am I anxious at figuring out how and when to land the plane. Is it too abrupt? Does it leave the reader wanting more in a good way? Is it emotionally impactful? Do i need to wrap up loose ends? Finding a satisfying ending is the part that I have to work the hardest at (aside from, y’know, writing!)

#30 - The fic I’m most proud of right now has to be the cuddle sex chapter of YOTP (bed sharing, ch2). I really agonized over how to characterize Sela’s reluctance to let B-4 in and be vulnerable, how she wants to feel that safety but still is too scared to be hurt, how she uses sex as a weapon to reinforce her control. Just a lot of complex character thoughts on her!

And how B, sweet, precious B, goes out of his way to accommodate her because he’s more emotionally intuitive than others realize. 💖
