Come back to sleep
I’m back on my fic-writing game! At least for now. This is a tiny, fluffy Thomphrey fic for @havrs, as requested about a month ago (sorry!). I hope you enjoy! 😄💜 Requests are welcome! Just drop them in my inbox :))

“Come back to sleep, sweet one.” Humphrey’s voice is soft, coaxing, and Thomas feels his eyes begin to droop shut again.
His mind is so foggy from sleep that he struggles to remember when or why he woke up in the first place. It doesn’t especially matter, though—not when Humphrey is running a hand up and down his back and pressing kisses into his hair. It has long been established that none of the ghosts can feel temperature, but right now? Right now, Thomas feels so warm that he all but melts as he snuggles closer into Humphrey’s arms.
“Why are you awake, yet telling me to sleep? That seems rather hypocritical of you, dearest.” Thomas’ teasing tone is undermined by the soft sleepiness settling into the back of his throat. It crosses his mind that he sounds like his little sister, Evelyn, did when he tucked her into bed. He has never felt so safe as now.
“I’m waiting for you to sleep first. I promise I’ll follow right behind.” Humphrey’s voice is almost as sleepy, and Thomas loves it so much—loves Humphrey so much—that he finds himself reaching for his hand.
Humphrey’s breath is beginning to settle out again. His grip on Thomas’ hand is loosening, and Thomas can tell that he’s fighting to stay awake. That, in the end, is what makes him settle back down into Humphrey’s arms and embrace his encroaching sleepiness with a whispered good night, hand in hand with his love.
