In an attempt to make this story easier to explain, I drew this awesome picture to go with it:
- The blue X is the front of the house - The red X is the back - The brown line is where the fence is connected to the house - The shaded white area is the kitchen - The shaded purple area is the dining table
I’ve been working for this same family as a nanny for almost two years. A lot of times they’ll ask me to stay late so it’s not unusual for me to make dinner. Back when I first started working for them, I was staying late and standing in the kitchen while both boys were sitting at the dining table when we heard someone knocking at the front door; it wasn’t just that someone was knocking either, there was suddenly this unsettling feeling of being in danger, like a black cloud had flooded the house. It was after dark so it was pretty weird to have anyone there but when I went and checked, no one was there. We shrugged it off until we heard the knocking a second time. This time I ran straight to the door to try and catch whoever was knocking and freaking the boys out. Still no one. I went back into the kitchen and we just pretended nothing happened until this really creepy scratching noise started at the front of the house and went up the side wall. The boys froze and got these terrified looks on their faces as we listened to the scratching continue from the front of the house all the way to the back. The scratching sounded like someone dragging a stick along a wooden fence but the house is made of brick so that didn’t make any sense, and the scratching didn’t hesitate at the fence and just went straight through it. By the time it reached the back porch and footsteps went up to the door, the boys had already booked it to me and were hiding behind me and freaking out. Then the footsteps stopped and this feeling of danger disappeared and it was over.
