Everybody has some kind of scar. Send me a â to hear about a physical scar my character has, or a ⧠to hear about an emotional/mental scar.
â: Stephen has three long, angry scars, stretching nearly from his right shoulder to his left hip, where a future predatorâs claws nearly gutted him. Considering heâd planned on sacrificing his life, he doesnât think he got too bad a deal. Sometimes, though, he could swear he still feels it.Â
â§: Stephenâs mum died when he was young. Cancer. She was a brilliant woman, a scientist, but he always remembered her kindness the best. She was the type of mother to take days off work when he was sick, make soup from scratch, or defend him when his father rebuked him too harshly. But then she died, and it was just Stephen and his father. He was distant. Harsh. Stephen made top marks in school, played all the sports he could manage, trying to get some form of attention or approval.Â
Eventually, he gave up. Graduated university and ran off to the far corners of the globe as a conservationalist. He was in Somalia when he got word the man had died. He didnât even bother booking a flight home. He regrets it, now. He still wonders if there was anything he could have done, anything he couldâve been better at, that could have gotten his father to love him.
