born and raised in new york to liliana and roger qinghou. his father is a businessman who founded noble international, china's largest conglomerate, while his mother is a real estate tycoon. money was and never will be an obstacle for arya. his parents planned his entire life ahead of him ever since he was a child.

they were determined for their children to become perfect (because lbr, who else is going to take over the family business?). they moved him to singapore to attend nanyang primary school and then phillips exeter academy. the qinghou's only want the best for their kids. they won't settle for anything less.

he spent most of his childhood with an endless list of tutors, from mandarin lessons to basketball lessons but he wasn't complaining since he enjoyed them all. and he was not allowed to complain anyway. when he was in high school his parents finally let him do whatever he wanted to do so you can imagine!!! how happy he was. he pm had a "rebellious phase" for a bit and discovered the nightlife -- there's nothing he loves more than alcohol.

even though he knows his parents mean well, he never really liked them that much. they always kept their distance with their children. they were there but never really there. liliana and roger qinghou missed an endless list of birthdays and milestones amongst other things. he stopped caring when he was fifteen because what's the point when they were never really going to love you anyway?

life after high school was a breeze. he went to yale and majored in economics. graduated with summa cum laude and as for everything else.. well, he doesn't remember. now he's back in new york to do what he's supposed to do.

let me tell you, arya is 100% psycho. for the most part, he is mr. nice guy but if you cross the line with him he'll probably do anything in his power to destroy you. he will make sure that you can never make a living and because of his family name, he's more than capable of doing so. "i will buy you." - arya qinghou, probably.

he has a very competitive nature and will do anything to win. he's relentless, direct and obstinate. but also genuine, thoughtful and amiable. he's actually pretty approachable -- he won't be rude for you for no reason at all. believe it or not, he has a chill and calm composure. he likes to spend most of his free time with a) friends or b) his dog, momofuku (yes he named it after momofuku milk bar). before he goes out on friday's, he watches how to get away with murder. if you insult the show, he will have a go with you. he also low-key loves taylor swift.

 jess, as she prefers to be called, is the only child of ernie and samantha friedman, two incredibly loving, somewhat overbearing parents who only wanted the best for their little girl. she was raised pretty modestly, although her parents didn't lack money. they just chose to stick to their roots, their traditions; they were not much for being fancy or flashy. they liked what they were comfortable with, and that was that, a lifestyle that jess generally sticks to currently.

she lived in brooklyn her whole life in a happy little home and neighborhood. she was sent to the best private school in manhattan though, and always kept her chin high as she was teased for taking the L train all the way to brooklyn. 

as a kid, she always knew she wanted to be a doctor. she was obsessed with bones, organs, eyeballs, skin, body parts, and anything gross. she was the kid that was intentionally falling off the monkey bars so she could inspect her bruises and scabs. as she got older, she jumped at any opportunity to do a summer biology program or an internship at a hospital. she spent many weekends delivering magazines or candy to hospital rooms, always hoping for the chance to run into a doctor who was looking for a bright, young prodigy. 

jess is tough and confident. she never had anything handed to her on a silver platter (though she's learned not to judge people who do and take advantage of it) and she's worked hard for everything she's achieved. she's freshly out of med school and is now doing her surgical residency at mount sinai hospital. she's excited and eager, but she's exhausted 1000% of the time. 

she's simultaneously optimistic and pessimistic somehow. she looks for the bright side of things, but can't help but be realistic and rational about the way things are. it's a very confusing personality trait. she's very chill and easy going though, and you'll often find her in her uniform of no makeup, a sloppy bun, a t-shirt and jeans. she's always up for a night in with pizza and netflix. but make no mistake, she loves the occasional dress up and night out on the town.

she's never had a boyfriend in her life (and if she has she is not aware of it because she is horrible at reading other people and if they're into her or not) so she is always leaning on friends for relationship guidance. she's so busy that she doesn't really care most of the time, but she certainly gets lonely like a regular human being and she dreams about having a guy to watch the sopranos with her.  

• grew up in venice beach with his older siblings and teen mom, a perpetually drunk beach babe with a weakness for douchey men and reckless spending. was sent to live with his dad at 16, surprised to discover that he was a depressed, broke, 90s one hit wonder ("everything i doooo, i do it forrr yooou" yah right dad). he recently killed himself which has left ezra with daddy issues galore because they had so much in common? and they'd grown really close really quickly?? more forgiving of his mom as he gets older, because he understands that she was just a victim who sacrificed a lot and tried her best.

• everything about him is disastrous. like, there is not a single element of ezra's life that is stable or elegant. it's just a jumble of anxiety, chaos, grief, whatever. he seems so fragile, and yet he's still standing. he cracks a lot, but never breaks. that ought to be remembered.

• dude is not at all smart in the book sense, but he's streetwise, with a quiet awareness and empathy that make him a pretty chill person to be around. like, he's always finding new ways to hurt himself and fuck up his own life, but when it comes to other people he'll just keep his mouth shut, stay out of the way. in groups he's always the shadowy one in the corner, because why drag others down with you?

• i stand corrected, there's one thing ezra's good at: skateboarding. it's a necessity, just like eating or sleeping. it's natural and empowering and the only time he really feels substantial. he could probably make a career out of it if he actually tried harder.

• works at a shitty skate shop and does some photography/filming for a local magazine/website (basically the east coast version of the berrics) on the side. they only pay him in hair ruffles and fist bumps, but he gets to meet famous skaters and cry behind the dumpster so it's cool.

• he dresses like mac demarco meets yung lean meets earl sweatshirt. trashion at its finest. started saying “swaggy” as a joke but it’s since devolved into a genuine part of his vocabulary. same with pointing out when it’s 4:20. and wearing bucket hats. and doing a rap squat in every photo. at this point it’s hard to tell if he’s an ironic hipster or actual fuckboy. (is both an option?)

• loves art (graffiti and neo-expressionism) and street photography. words have never been his forte, but visuals? he's really good at those.

• says he doesn't trust strangers, which is partly true. he's either cold and aloof or secretly in love w/ u, there isn't much middle ground. keeps accidentally ending up in relationships, but usually dumped after a week or so which is fine because he literally only cares when the person is unattainable and/or treating him like shit. masochist tbh.

• pretty much always sporting bruises and a bloody nose and hair that sticks out in every direction. on the verge of tears 80% of the time. have i mentioned that he's a fucking mess.

born and raised in a central park west penthouse with the money and the family name to prove it. born for greatness, as his father would always say. the oldest of three perfect, intelligent wonder children. from a young age, clive was told he could be whatever he wanted when he grew up; as long as it was a doctor, a lawyer, or a politician. he bounced around between the three his entire young life, went off to harvard, then columbia law school with his sights set on criminal law. 

he spent several years after law school as an associate at a high end firm, but he became dissatisfied. he wanted more. he wanted to own this city. so he said goodbye to law for now and launched a congressional campaign.

clive seriously doesn't care about you, as long as you give him your vote and maybe a generous donation. but he will pretend to care, oh boy, will he pretend. he's charming, charismatic, and beautifully clever liar. all the key traits of an ambitious young politician.

he's used to getting his way, but when he doesn't, he's not stopping until he gets what he wants. he'll schmooze you til the sun goes down and maybe longer after that.

he was quite the playboy, but now he's settled down with a hell of a wife. she started at his firm in his third year, and friendly flirtatious competition turned to much more. she's his right hand woman, his partner in crime, his equal.
