Iiaat hate schedules? I know liking schedules is a common autistic trait but I get so anxious when I have a schedule and I’m expected to do things at a specific time even though in reality I know I need schedules
I relate to this a lot! For me this is because I know that once I have a schedule I will be very inflexible which can result in problems.
For example, if I set my mind to having breakfast at, say, 8 a.m., I will have immense difficulty eating any later than that because “If I don’t do it Right, why bother at all?”. In this particular case, that would mean being unable to have breakfast because now it’s 8:05 and This Is Wrong and What About The Plan.
There tends to be an enormous conflict between my need for routine and my lack of organizational skills, foresight and low energy (executive dysfunction and possibly ADHD). My solution until recently: living in self-imposed chaos to avoid the stress of having to plan without being able to make plans and missing out on things due to an overly rigid routine. Still trying to find a balance.
