Sakamoto's opus is diverse, you can't really pinpoint him, since he, for instance, takes a genre and consequently puts his own spin on the style he works in. However, I do see he likes to return to his old collaborators quite often, so no surprise we find him in HASYMO, which is actually another name for Yellow Magic Orchestra. I am not sure why they chose to release the tunes under the moniker, they would suit Yellow Magic Orchestra. True, they might fear the sullying of their legacy, though that misgiving seems unfounded, because Sakamoto, Hosono and Takashi never rest on their laurels. Each of them continues to find ways to challenge themselves, but I guess they felt their current songs stray too much from what the old group was. I politely disagree with, yet who am I to argue?
