#harubang

"Ilchul Land"

This was another tourist trap, but at least it looked nice.

When we entered Ilchul Land (literally: "Sunrise Land"), we immediately saw this big Buddha. I snapped this shot quickly before all the ajummas (아줌마, an older Korean woman) rushed up to get their pictures taken with it.

The whole place was well-landscaped and looked nice. Not quite as natural as I might have liked, but it still looked nice.

I'm sure that they found that waterfall that way.

It was a pleasant walk through this landscape, and I did enjoy my time here.

I mentioned before that harubangs are common in Jeju. But I didn't say that they are absolutely everywhere. Everywhere you look on this island, you'll find a harubang. Villages, parks, museums, and you will see hundreds of mini harubangs in gift shops.

The centerpiece of this park is 미천굴 (Micheon Cave). It is a 1.5 km long cave, but only the first 300 meters or so are open to the public. Again, it was far too dark to take many good pictures.

It had this very nice painting of a dragon, though, which I thought was pretty neat. The cave was very wide, and very tall. It was also quite cold, and we were shivering in this cave on this hot summer day.

Ilchulland also has a folk village, but I didn't get too many pictures of it, since we had already seen one.

But I did get a better picture of one of the black pigs.

And we came to a statue park that had a ton of strange statues.

They all had really goofy faces carved into them.

But this next one is by far my favorite one:

It is so funny and stupid looking and I love it.

There were also, of course, a ton of harubangs around.
