Background: Harrison was wrongfully convicted in the murder of his wife, Eliza, and their daughter, Tessa. Eliza’s family pushed hard for the conviction, and Harrison spent three years behind bars before he was exonerated. Open to: M/F/NB | brother/sister, cousin, family-like friend; this can either be someone who stood by him, or someone who believed him guilty. I left it open as to whether it was a chance encounter or they deliberately approached him.
People always spoke of the horrors of In-Laws. Which was all well and good, but Harrison very much doubted that most of said people had ever had to sit across a courtroom from their In-Laws as the defendant in their spouse’s murder case.... Just, statistically speaking, he was willing to wager he was in the minority in that respect.... So people could bitch about their In-Laws from Hell all they wanted, but until it amounted to time served, Harrison had them beat.
Needless to say, he hadn’t made an effort to reach out to any of Eliza’s family since he’d been released. Which was why it was such a shock to suddenly see one in the flesh. “Oh.... hi,” Harrison said lamely. For a man who once constructed conversations for a living, he found himself drawing a sizable blank.
