Harriet, affectionately known as Harry, has always been a hardworking and determined young woman. Growing up, she enjoyed being surrounded by the greenery and the natural beauty of her parents’ picturesque home in Prose. Their large home had its own land and she spent her childhood riding bikes and climbing trees with her older brother. She was always full of life and as she grew, she’d spend hours with her sketchbook in the woods or helping her mom in the kitchen.
Her family were close, they all enjoyed their simple but fulfilling life in Prose. Her mom grew a lot of her own food and ran a small bakery. Her older brother is from her father’s first marriage, however, he lived primarily with them and Harry considers him to be her best friend. She grew up with her parents and older brother until she was 12 years old when she sadly lost their mother in a car accident. She’s never really talked about it to anyone but it has made her determined to have such a close relationship with her own son.
After losing his wife, her dad worked a lot, but he was a good father and looking after each other quickly became the norm for her and her brother. Despite losing her mom so young, she tried to make the most of her life in Prose. She embraced high school, she had friends and joined the art club. She was happy and she tried to make the most of every day. She had her brother she was close to, her father who supported and loved them unconditionally and she often found herself naturally cooking and looking after the two men. She enjoyed school, she was artistic, smart and had plenty of friends. She thrived into her teens, winning art competitions, meeting her first boyfriend and working part time at a local bakery. She even spent the summer before college working at a summer camp.
Harriet had always loved helping people, it was in her nature. She had a soft but firm temperament, she was caring and a bit of a perfectionist. She has always been a strong, energetic, sweet and very persistent woman. Naturally smart and a love for maths and science, she knew she wanted to go to university and she wanted to push herself. Being bold and many doors open to her due to her strong education, she moved to New York when she was eighteen, studying nursing at university.
Harriet loved learning and she enjoyed university, she was kind and driven and found herself a group of friends. It was a big change from her life back in Prose but she loved it. She excelled in her placements and when a job came up in the local medical centre back home, she knew it was meant to be.
After a couple of years of working, Harriet decided she wanted to further her education and become an advanced nurse practitioner. It was there at the university she met Professor Whitley. The older man was charming, he had a way with words and he made her feel special. After a couple of relationships that had gone nowhere, it was nice to be treated well. Even if Harriet knew it was wrong, she enjoyed the secret and the rush of meeting up with him. Though getting pregnant was never meant to be a part of her brief affair.
Harriet has never told anyone that Whitley is the father of her child. Not even Whitley himself. His recent death last year was a shock and just a year after the birth of her son. Part of her regrets not telling him about the baby and she couldn’t tell anyone that she was mourning the late professor. She’s very protective of her child and she’s very wary about letting people into his life. However, she’s still that strong, bubbly, and determined woman and she refuses to let anything drag her down.
Harriet has worked as nurse practitioner in the small town for a couple of years now and she enjoys her work. She loves her home and she wants her son to grow up in the same way she did, enjoying the nature and fresh air surrounding Prose. She’s just always slightly on edge that someone will find out her secrets.
