I had no idea early yesterday that when I honored my son on International son's day that he would be home again. I can't even begin to explain what the last nearly four years have been like. Waiting for phone calls...for him to come home on leave. Finding out the ship he was on during deployment, disabled an Iranian drone because the news reported it. Crazy things like that. From the time he was young, Shaun always looked out for me. When he was two years old he would bring me drinks of water, when I was on bedrest with his little sister. I have so many memories of him showing concern for my daughter & I. As he got older he went from just looking out for us to becoming very protective. His love of dogs started as a young boy. I really don't know anyone who loves dogs more than Shaun. He has always had a great sense of humor, which started quite young. He is multi talented. I always loved his creative mind & his drawings. I also loved watching him play in the Marching band & drumline when he was in highschool. He also really considered pursuing music for a while there. I never suspected until the day he approached me to have a serious talk about his decision, that he would ever join the Military. Shaun proved to everyone including himself that he can do hard things. Being a Marine was just one of those hard things. I'm proud of him for serving our country.
