Today is an important day, it’s my younger sister’s birthday! I said that in order to pay respects to her I would wait till today to make my first April post, and I’m glad I did. I think it’s funny that my last entry was around a month ago, which means I’ve been writing a lot less, and that makes me sad, but daresay I will fix that now. First off, a few things about my sister. Okay so my sister is something special. To me she’s probably without any doubt my sword and shield. She has fought for me and even kept me from the worst things in life. Describing our relationship is complicated, not because there’s anything difficult from keeping it from being a strong relationship, but because we’re both such complex people. That raises the other question, are we really so complex? Well in truth, yeah...

See my sister/sister relationship with her hasn’t always been so, and as I have just learned after so long that changed over time and there are parts left behind that say, “Is this new, or is it the same?” It goes further than just anything “gender related” adding to that sense, but how we’ve approached life in it’s many unforeseeable events, and even if some of those things are normal, they’re definitely unpredictabilities that create a greater sense of “normal”. But here’s the thing, my sister has always been there for me, and I’ll always be there for her. Like a bond that cannot break, I love her, and there’s no doubt that she loves me too. Last weekend I spent the weekend with her and that was about all I was able to do for her on her birthday. But it was an amazing weekend. We got to stay in a tiny house. An old train car, decorated with eclectic value it was the perfect stay for the two of us out in the woods. Or in the woods at a shooting range. Regardless, we socialized, opened up, and talked about life. We drank beers and smoked weed (which I’m becoming more open about how I need to advocate for). We were at peace, relaxed, and had a great time together, which was also able to ground us both. Moving forward and I’m looking forward to working with her more, which is what I did this weekend. I also love our conversations and admire the crap out of my sister, because, well, she’s awesome. She has been through some tough times in life and life is tough on her sometimes. But she’s never lost sight of what’s important and isn’t turning against life for that. Her strengths came from her endurance while trying to focus on the goods and not the bads.
