I'm loathe to promote the region's best happy hour, for fear of making it too popular, but just can't hold in this secret any longer. It must be shared. Kawa Ni is an American take on a Japanese Izakaya (gastropub) with an incredible array of food choices and if course, creative drinks. 5 different varieties of Sake Bombs. Smokey bone marrow Old Fashioned. Scallop rolls and Ramens. The fried chicken wings that could even convert vegetarians.
My personal favorite dish is their scallop hand roll (maki) - when the nori is crispy, there's very little more tasty.
The scallop is married with yuzu kosho (citrus chili pepper paste), shiso (perilla leaf that has a scent reminiscent of cinnamon and cloves), and sweet soy.
