Hans Herbots, director of The Serpent, just posted this note about leaving Thailand. He appears to confirm that production is now suspended due to the virus, though the wording seems to suggest that production in Thailand has come to an end anyway (they could be planning further filming back in the UK or elsewhere, which makes sense as the history of The Serpent also includes France and India, I believe - of course, reconvening to either country aināt gonna happen for a bit). Of course, the question right now is when production will resume, period, and whether this might end up pushing The Serpentās broadcast into 2021.
From what I understand from news reports, Jenna, Hans and anyone else returning to the UK from overseas will probably be facing the two-week āself-isolationā quarantine. Meanwhile, Jenna is still announced as appearing at both a BFI TV festival and a comic con in Orlando on virtually the same day almost exactly a month from now. The double-booking is very puzzling, though the way things are currently headed I will be surprised if either event goes ahead (certainly the travel ban from the UK to the US, if itās still in place this time next month, will impact her ability to go to Orlando). As with everything these days, weāll have to see.
Hans Herbots just posted this picture of Jenna Coleman filming The Serpent in a room that is supposed to be located in Bangkok, but is actually located in an old English manor hall.Ā
It must be hard to have these surroundings, and have to imagine youāre at the opposite end of the world, in a very differen style of house!Ā
And I love what Jenna is wearing in this picture!

Hans Herbots is the director of Jenna Colemanās The Serpent. Heās in London right now, apparently editing the show (I donāt know if that means filming is done or just the first block - itās 8 episodes and 4 months feels like a short time to film that many, at least for a BBC production; it took almost that long to film 4 episodes of The Cry). He posted this intriguing video where he seems to be watching the opening of a TV show (I looked it up and itās also known as Thieves of the Wood). But then the camera scrolls up to show an editing suite program running on another computer and what might therefore be a couple of glimpses at The Serpent! Nothing involving Jenna, but still interesting.
