She felt like she was choking. She couldn’t breath. Her lungs were collapsed, completely closed, denying the entrance of any oxygen to her body. She was a mess. Her hands were shaking. Her throat was sore, from crying and screaming. Her eyes, full of tears, were red and puffy, just like the rest of her face. He, on the other hand, looked bored. He rolled his eyes frequently. He didn’t care. He looked around the place, setting his sight anywhere but on her eyes, probably because, deep, deep inside, some part of him felt the tiniest bit of regret, seeing someone so broken and damaged, because of him; or, perhaps, he didn’t look in her eyes because he knew that as soon as he did, he would fall back down into that deep abyss that her eyes hid, and would never come back from the deepest places of her soul. “You broke my heart!” she screamed, her voice cracking on the second word. He sighed. “No. You broke it yourself; expecting to get something that you knew I couldn’t give you.” She stared at him in disbelief. How could someone be so heartless? He asked himself the same thing. A few seconds went by, soon turning to minutes. Both of them stared at each other, fighting a battle on who would look away first. He lost. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and walked away.
