Kid Stuff

Kid Stuff is an exhibition designed to explore the contemporary use of techniques and materials ordinarily utilized by children. Selected work will demonstrate the use of resources commonly found in, or inspired by, activities in school classrooms, bringing experimentation with commonplace objects in to the contemporary art world.

Location: Halt Gallery | Phoenix, Arizona Dates: February 20 – March 14, 2015 Receptions: February 20th & March 6th Kid Stuff will be a participant in the 27th Annual Art Detour, March 7-8, 2015.

Terms: No fee. Works in the show may be for sale. The gallery will take a 30% commission on all sales. Halt Gallery responsible for return shipment cost. Work must be packed in reusable packing materials. Local artists may hand deliver work. All media is eligible. We recommend work does not exceed 36inches in any direction.

How to submit work:

Information to include in body of email: full name, phone number, link to website (Optional: Attach an artist statement or bio)

Digital images should be submitted in JPG format, 300 dpi, not to exceed 4MB.

Label images in the following format: Artistslastname_titleofwork.jpg

In email submission, please include the following information for each work:

Artists name, title, year of completion, medium, dimensions

3 submissions per artist maximum

Halt Gallery was developed by Julia Bruck and Becky Nahom in the spring of 2012 as a new alternative to a conventional art gallery to provide site-specific art exhibitions with unexpected experiences for both artist and viewer. When a search for a traditional brick and mortar space felt too confined, they created a business model to develop exhibitions specific to the sites of traditional and alternative spaces. 

Halt Gallery is currently curating exhibitions in the Halt Gallery Shipping Container. The new shipping container gallery space was created in partnership with Halt Gallery and the Roosevelt Row CDC, while made possible through support from ArtPlace America.

The Jungle Box by Sarah Hurwitz has been included in the list of 5 Must-See First Friday Shows in Phoenix! We will be open from 6-10 tonight for the closing reception of The Jungle Box. If you are unable to make it this evening, we will be open tomorrow, November 8th, from 10am-2pm.

Halt Gallery celebrates the opening of their new space with an exhibition certain to elicit smiles from visitors. In an installation created specifically for the new gallery, artist Sarah Hurwitz invites viewers on a whimsical bird watching trip through The Jungle Box where they are encouraged to find her extraordinary illustrations. The new shipping container gallery space was created in partnership with Halt Gallery and the Roosevelt Row CDC, while made possible through support from ArtPlace America.
