We’re still left with the simple problem of why Islam inspires such intense hatred of non-muslims. Also, consider the horrors they bring to Western Europe when they refuse to assimilate, i.e., allah first, country second in all cases.
I would reframe that: Why does some versions of Islam inspire hatred of the out-group? And I would ask the same thing of other religions as well!! Cause this is not an issue exclusive to Islam - or even just religious groups. Consider people very passionate about politics who may hate people of the other party; or, since the superbowl just passed, how about those who literally riot and attack people over sportsball fanaticism. The question is: Why do some people/groups take their values and beliefs to such an extreme? Same goes for your second point.
I'm not claiming to be an expert on anything, let alone the dynamic of muslim communities in Europe. I'm just saying that there are a lot of prejudices and misunderstandings which could be corrected and help lead to a fruitful discussion without relying on common prejudiced or stereotyped assumptions.
@halfreal said: Maybe they have fewer murders in part because gender segregation does a good job in preventing adultery and jealousy? I’m not convinced that western secular values are intrinsically superior.
Interesting idea, though there are lots of reasons why someone might murder someone. I'll leave the other part for the next time we chat! (Btw, I moved back to Washington.)
