IT WAS A QUIET CONTEMPLATION , ONE MADE AFTER THEY HAD GROWN AND LEARNED to cherish each other’s company. their brotherhood had been built on the foundation of gnashing teeth / tears / quiet apologies. and then, as shouto grew older, it crumbled under resentment / isolation / rage. shouto held that RAGE in his heart for a long time ----- had let it poison his lungs / leave him breathless with it. he was tired, and it was time for him to let go.
they sat together on the front porch of their home, watching the sun leave the sky & grant the moon moments to shine. it was quiet, shouto was sipping tea, and then touya spoke, a quiet confession that paved way to a path of healing.
i’m so glad we were born during the same lifetime.
his gaze flickered, and his heart felt like it was in his stomach and his stomach in his throat. he never wanted to HURT his brother, lashing tongue as sharp as a sword ------------------ ( i didn’t want another father, I just wanted my brother ), but he was glad he said it, hopeful now that peace could settle between them. their apologies had been said, their guilt put to rest, and shouto reached out to grasp his brother’s hand. he’d never admit it out loud, but he had always loved touya the most.
❛ i’m really glad too, touya. ❜
