𓁹 You were a crown-princess who was blind in one eye. A sole, single eye. Be it an accident or birth-borne challenge. All you knew was that it was very subtly frowned upon by the people in the court. Your parents..well, they sorta tried to move past it. The snobbish suitors, the older courtiers and the senate, they apparently couldn't. It felt like everyone knew you were inadequate for your position as the crown princess.

𓁹 So..like any sensible noble, you decided to make your life difficult for the sake of it. Just kidding. You were just running away for the sake of it. For shits and giggles and by god did it send your entire empire into a frenzy, your family looking all over you and you attempting to use some mana and magic from mage to hide your appearance and help your sight in simple sense.

𓁹 You travelled far, ended up in north and began work in the Lion of the North's manor as a simple servant. Using glasses you acquired to work your daily jobs, not that it helped with the servants. Some were commoners and some were slightly distances or low nobles. Who tended to act superior. You being half-blind? It was a remark often targetted.

𓁹 You always were bullied as a child, by the children of other high nobles. It did instill some inferiority complex, even if you tried to not admit. You felt inadequate, so much money yet nothing could be done for your blind eye. You felt light, you felt dark in it. Yes..but, of what use was it? you couldn't see perfectly clearly.

𓁹 It was one of those days. One of those low noble maids were taunting you subtly, "Your eyes are seriously like your skills, all for show. None for use, isn't that it?!" he said, getting up in your face. You were so going to punch her across the face when–! "That's rude." You hear a squeaky voice claim. You and the girl turned her head to find face-to-face with the Duke's young daughter, Leonia.

𓁹 The girl-maid froze, before attempting to laugh it off, "My young lady, I was just–", "You were being mean." Leonia said with almost cheeky innocence, as if pointing out the obvious truth. Which she, technically, was. Beside her stood the head maid, Vera, and her knight, Levipath. Neither of whom seem impressed. "I believe we told you not to do this," Vera claimed to the maid who apologised, fakely but profusely.

𓁹 One thing led to another and Leonia began to come see you just about everyday. So often, her father, the duke himself took an interest in you. The moment he saw you, he realised who you happened to be. You had to beg. him to not return you to your kingdom until you were ready to go back on your own. He agreed. In exchange, you kept an eye on Leonia as her personal maid aside from Levipath.

𓁹 You also began to be company to Duke Phileo himself. Stranger and awkward interactions blossomed into actual love. Gentle feelings and soft smiles. He asked about your eyes and you told your past. You asked him of his childhood, he told you of his sister and Leonia's habits and also about news from your own kingdom regularly.

𓁹 It was one of those simple days where you and him sat, while you gently rocked Leonia in your lap, rocking and bouncing your leg to make her sleep since he refused to leave your side. His eyes were trained out the window, admiring the snow falling. It came out of nowhere, you hadn't expect to say it, "You are just the most..beautiful man in my single eye, My lord. No pun intended."

𓁹 Phileo's face didn't seem that fazed, except for his slightly widened and immensely softened eyes and his ears turning redder by the second. And you, sitting mortified with his daughter in your lap, his keen love on your shoulders and guilt for not being adequate or good enough. None of it mattered though.

𓁹 Phileo integrated you into his life as easily as it was to take a breath. You seemed to just make things somehow better and in return? he loved you more than anything. Any comments someone made about your blind eye was punished rightfully. People had to watch what to say to the possible future-duchess.

𓁹 Leonia would show you off as her new 'momma' to her friends. Phileo tried to keep you away from more populated events in case you were recognised, but of-course he couldn't keep you away forever, eventually people would recognize. But that day was not coming unless Phileo wanted it to.

𓁹 He would clean and buy better quality glasses for you, the measly one you had was of no use if it didn't help you. He'd keep it clean himself, attempt to find salves or cures or medicine for any sort of strain you might feel in your eye. He knows blindness can't always be cured and he doesn't want to take away that feature of yours.

𓁹 in fact, he feels his objective is rather to make you like even that part of you. He kisses the eyelid of your blind eye first thing every morning after waking up, whispering how beautiful you look. Despite his coldness, he was a loving man. He wouldn't let your inferiority complex get in the way of your happiness.

𓁹 He'd help you walk, especially on the side you're blind from. Tries to make life as easy as he possibly can for you, in ways as much as possible. He might also help you return to your empire if you so wish to. Happily giving you protection under his house from anyone who tries to take you back forcefully.
