Okay, a longer answer:

So in some ways this process is already happening, since there are entire communities of freed people and the descendants of freed people who are still very much a part of slave culture - people like Beru Whitesun and Biggs Darklighter and even Luke Skywalker.

Of course, these freed people exist alongside slaves, and they maintain relationships across what’s almost two sides of the culture. But even so, I think for the first generation or so of freeborn children, things will look very similar to the way they do among freed people already. It’s just that everyone will be freed now.

So what will it look like a few centuries down the line?

For one thing, I think there’s going to be a Tatooine diaspora culture. A lot of the freed slaves will probably stay on Tatooine, but a lot will also leave. Maybe they’ll go in search of their ancestral homes, for those whose families still know where they were originally taken from. Maybe they’ll go because there are more opportunities somewhere else, or because they want to build a new life away from the memories of the Masters, or simply because they want to leave.

Whatever the reason, there are going to be people with Tatooine roots scattered all over the galaxy. Actually, some of this is probably happening already in the OT period of canon - I think there are quite a lot of Tatooine folks in the Rebellion, for example. And wherever they go, they’ll carry their culture and traditions and secrets with them.

And eventually, given enough time, there will start to be cultural differences across the diaspora. Maybe the Amavikkan community on Naboo celebrates Marokkepu in conjunction with the phases of the Naboo moon. Or maybe the community on Coruscant develops an especially ritualized approach to the sharing of tzai on a planet where everything is expected to be easily available (and easily appropriated) by the dominant culture. Or maybe in places there are Amavikkan who join with Alderaani diaspora communities, who offer prayers to Leia and Torhu in the same breath.

And of course there will be a large number of Amavikkan who remain on Tatooine, the place where Ar-Amu first spoke to the people, where the rain fell and their freedom came and the Mighty One still walks in the desert. Probably Tatooine becomes a kind of sacred placed for members of the diaspora, even if they never actually go there themselves.

And now we come back to Space Passover. Marokkepu and Bentu Depuraak are the central points of Tatooine religion, and they would only become more important after emancipation. Bentu Depuraak means “the Reckoning of the Masters,” and now that reckoning has come. The people are free and the Depuran have been thrown down. Ar-Amu has fulfilled her promise.

(2/2) so im curious, how does the tatooine slave culture/religion feel about questions about their stories? are they also encouraged or is that too dangerous since their enslavement is still ongoing? 

This is something that’s very different whether you’re talking questions from within the culture or questions from outsiders.

Questions from within the culture are highly encouraged, even considered sacred in their own right. There are ritualized questions for certain holidays, especially Marokkepu and Bentu Depuraak, and storytelling (which is a sacred activity) often begins with someone asking a question.

Questions from outsiders, though, are naturally looked at with a lot of distrust, because the secrecy of the culture keeps people alive.

So little Kitster and Melee and Ani and Amee asking Shmi endless questions would be a wonderful thing.
