~ “Hal Wallis grounded Dean and Jerry” ~😂
Just something to tickle your funny bone. They were like two little boys. It had to be a joy to watch.

Producer Hal Wallis presents Glenda Jackson her Best Actress Oscar for WOMEN IN LOVE in London in 1971 where she was filming MARY, QUEEN OF SCOTS.
How Hal Wallis felt about spending all the money earned from the Martin and Lewis films to finance movies about English history starring the best actors of the time
The Strange Love of Martha Ivers premiered in London, England on 13 June 1946, before its official release in July.
Robert Rossen adapted John Patrick's short story "Love Lies Bleeding" and Barbara Stanwyck was cast. Kirk Douglas made his feature film debut, and was recommended for the role by Lauren Bacall (the two had studied together at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City), and Douglas credited co-star Van Heflin with helping him feel comfortable in front of the camera.
Producer Hal Wallis was intent on making Lizabeth Scott a star (he wanted to give her top billing in the film, but the idea was quickly defeated by Stanwyck and her lawyers) and demanded that director Lewis Milestone reshoot scenes to include more close-ups of Scott (who was appearing in her 2nd feature film), when Milestone refused, Wallis directed the scenes himself, and then cut Stanwyck's screen time.
Released to mostly positive reviews, The Strange Love of Martha Ivers was a commercial and critical success, and John Patrick was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Writing, Original Motion Picture Story. It is now regarded as one of the best film noirs.

Here’s a particular quote that has stuck with me. -
“I dream about Dean pretty often, maybe once a month since he died. In my dreams, he’s almost always young, tan, still unbelievably handsome—indestructible. Sometimes, though, in these ultra-vivid late-night movies, bad things are happening—to him, to me, to both of us—and I’m powerless to stop them. Sometimes, my wife tells me, I cry out in my sleep. Other times, I dream I’m Super Jew, making everything right, doing all the things I might have done, when the pressures on us were so enormous.” (Page 257)
