Hakka Savory Meat-Stuffed Tang Yuan is a traditional Chinese dumpling dish that is full of ground pork, vegetables, and spices that give it a lot of flavor. The comforting broth that these dumplings are served in makes them perfect for a warm and filling meal.
Ingredients: 200g glutinous rice flour. 100ml water. 150g ground pork. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1 small onion, finely chopped. 1 tablespoon soy sauce. 1 teaspoon sesame oil. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 1/4 teaspoon white pepper. 1/4 teaspoon sugar. 1/4 cup water chestnuts, finely chopped. 1/4 cup shiitake mushrooms, finely chopped. 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth. Green onions, chopped for garnish.
Instructions: In a mixing bowl, combine glutinous rice flour and 100ml of water. Knead until a smooth dough forms. In a separate bowl, mix ground pork, minced garlic, chopped onion, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, white pepper, sugar, water chestnuts, and shiitake mushrooms to make the filling. Take a small portion of the dough and flatten it into a thin circle in your palm. Place a spoonful of the meat filling in the center of the dough circle. Carefully seal the edges of the dough, forming a round dumpling. Ensure there are no gaps or openings. Repeat the process with the remaining dough and filling to make more dumplings. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat and pan-fry the dumplings until they turn golden brown on both sides. In a separate pot, bring the chicken or vegetable broth to a boil. Drop the fried dumplings into the boiling broth and cook for 5-7 minutes or until they float to the surface. Serve the Hakka Savory Meat-Stuffed Tang Yuan in a bowl of hot broth, garnished with chopped green onions.
