Unpopular opinion: the crew dynamic is better in OPLA than its corresponding manga arcs/chapters.
In fights and to take down top villains (for now) they work together - instead of the usual "one-on-one". Which is good to me - Luffy, Zoro and Sanji will always be on another level, but here they aren't as unreachable as they are in the manga, they still need help from Nami or Usopp. Both of which turn out to be even more resourceful (Usopp) or fighting-fit (Nami) than manga.
And during down-time moments, it's more clear that they bonded together. I guess this is thanks to the animated medium itself, compared to manga that it's full focused on action and moving forward the story (and where there can't be nuances to face expressions or voices)
The scene when they are deciding to go to Logtown is perfection, if you ask me: they laugh together, they show affectionate gestures, they listen to each other. I can't explain in better words, but… there isn't much screen time to "waste" on developing their relationship/dynamic, yet you can see it that it's there, better than in the manga where they most joke or (affectionately) insult each other, and they truly feel family only when they are in battle and risking their lives. In the manga, this scene would've immediately devolved into a fight between Sanji and Zoro (after Sanji insulted Zoro for pumping ridiculously big irons, or Zoro assaulting in anger after the jab about Mihawk - a jab that would be a tad bit harsher and insulting than the playful teasing we got from Taz), Usopp would be around shaking in fear and Luffy wouldn't even bother to listen to why they need to stop, he would ramble about adventure.
OPLA!Luffy feels also a better focused captain. Usopp appeals to his role of leader, and Luffy listens to him: he's focused when Usopp speaks of "death", and changes mind when he hears what Zoro and Sanji say. Not to mention that Sanji would've started to drool at Nami's feet and cry that everything Nami wanted they did - here he listened intently to Nami's argumentations. I love this balanced Sanji!
No, scratch, all the characters are more balanced, their traits (both good and bad) less exasperated.
