Recently, I just read an angsty Haimomo fic and it has frustrated me to no end that these two can never get a fluffy or happy ending :/ I know this is a strange pairing, but maybe Haimomo with #2 Love? I kind of get an idea how to make HaiMomo story with this prompt, although I don't know if it will meet your expectation or not.
It was the weekend after the quarter-final of Winter Cup between Kaijou and Fukuda Sogo, and Haizaki received such an unexpected guest in the morning.
"You... What are you doing here?" he asked with a voice still hoarse since he was literally woken up by his older brother in the middle of a good sleep when the guest came.
"Good morning, Haizaki-kun. It's been awhile," Momoi stood there with a smile. In her hands were a small cake she bought beforehand.
Since his mother and older brother were at home, Haizaki couldn't just chase her away, so he had no choice but to invite her in. It seemed that his family both thought Momoi was his girlfriend, so they treated her well and left the two of them alone in the living room.
"...So? What do you want?" he asked bluntly after his mother and brother left.
"It's been a long time since we last met. We also didn't have the chance to talk during the Winter Cup, so I've been wondering how you've been," Momoi replied, "You look well, Haizaki-kun. It seems that the bruise from Dai-chan's punch is already healed, as well."
"Yeah, tell him I send him my best gratitude."
"I'm sorry about that..." with a bitter smile, Momoi lowered her gaze that even Haizaki didn't have the heart to continue speaking on that matter.
Momoi stayed there for about an hour. They talked about all sorts of things, mostly about what had happened to the both of them during the times they didn't meet, although Momoi asked more questions than Haizaki. After they finished eating the cake she brought, Momoi excused herself and went home. Haizaki thought it was strange for her to just show up all of a sudden like that, especially since they weren't particularly close in the first place,but the next week after that he received an SMS from Momoi again, asking if he wanted to hang out together if he didn't have anything planned. And once again, for some reason Haizaki found himself unable to reject her.
This went on for quite awhile. Once, Haizaki asked if Aomine and the others knew about her meeting up with him almost every week, in which Momoi said yes. Initially, Aomine (and Kise, too) objected to this since they were worried about her, but Momoi ensured them that Haizaki wouldn't do anything bad which had been proven until now since whenever she was with him, Momoi said she had nothing but fun.
At first, Haizaki found himself bewildered to hear such words since most of the people he'd met always said the he was a bad guy. He also couldn't understand himself for not being able reject Momoi and he was fully aware he never had the intention to do anything bad to her as he did with his other friends, males and females alike. Until one day when he came back home after hanging out with Momoi, her mother and brother said he should treat Momoi well since she brought good influence on him. When he asked what they meant, they said he hadn't gotten into any fights of troubles ever since he started going out with Momoi (they still thought they were lovers).
Haizaki was surprised by the realization since he didn't think of that. The next time they met, he asked Momoi what her intention actually was for getting closer to him.
"I couldn't really put it into words, but to be honest I've been worrying about you. Always, since a long time ago," she said, "Especially after what happened during the Winter Cup, I just thought that I need to see how you're doing. You used to be one of us, after all. But then I felt that spending time with you is really fun. Do you think it would be okay if I tell you I want to spend more time with you?"
"...?! Stupid woman... What the hell are you even saying?" he replied, almost stuttering as his face started turning red, "I won't be held responsible if you run into trouble."
In which Momoi simply giggled and said, "You wouldn't, because Haizaki-kun is actually a good person at heart."
