The infinitesimal shudder caught Jeff’s attention along with the uncomfortable motion of her facial muscles to smile, when her expression had turned into a frown. Okay, sore spot. Tread with caution.

Jeff kept a good ear on her fragmented explanation. No, he doesn’t know, but he could most likely guess; and it made him wonder if her blindness was self-inflicted.
