Kei was already half through his work day when he realized his lunch wasnât in the break room fridge like usual. He realized he probably left it on the counter in his rush to get out of the house. With Kurooâs usual shenanigans he was almost never out the door at the time he wanted to be, but over the many years of living with the rambunctious man heâd learned to be organized and put together by the time he did manage to leave.Â
He figured heâd be fine without his lunch and have a big dinner when he got home. So he pulled out his phone and sat down at the table. He wasnât going to go back to work if he didnât have to, this break was well deserved.Â
One of his co-workers came around not long after, joining him at the table. Though Jin has a lunch. Unlike him. Yes, he was going to be bitter about it, he was hungry.Â
âNo lunch?â Jin asked, a friendly smile on his face. He proceeded to open his bento and dig in.Â
Kei rolled his eyes, âObviously not.â He didnât look up from the very captivating mobile time killer on his phone.Â
âOh, someoneâs grumpy,â Jin poked at him with the clean end of his chopstick. âAre you hungy?âÂ
âThat baby voice is sickening.â
âYour face is sickening.â
âJust how I like it.â
There was a knock on the door followed by the tell-tale creep of a slow opening. The kind people do when they donât want to be rude, but need to interrupt. Kei saw a hint of messy black hair and knew what was coming.Â
He raised an eyebrow when Kuroo peeked his head through the opening, a smile spreading on his face when he realized heâd found Kei.Â
âTsukki!â he singsonged, âYou forgot something!â
âOh really I never would have noticed,â he snarked as Kuroo stepped forward, placing a hand on his back and dropping a bento onto the table in front of him.Â
Kei leaned back into the touch before speaking again, âYou drove all the way out here because i forgot my lunch?â His tone was snarky, but Kuroo knew better than to take it that way.
Kuroo raised an eyebrow, âI wasnât just going to let you go all day without eating.â
There was a moment of silence before the both of them remembered there was someone else in the room.Â
They looked over to see Jin with his jaw dropped. He mutters something under his breath before breaking out into shouts. âTsukishima!! Youâre not supposed to have friends!â He sounded almost scandalized.â
Kuroo broke out into laughter, while Kei just glared. âFriends? Iâm offended, Kei.âÂ
Kei just glared at the both of them for a moment.Â
âFirst name basis!â Jin shouted. Kei thought he was way too excited about this.Â
Kei had gone back to his phone, ignoring the chaos, when Kurooâs laughter finally died down enough for him to speak.Â
âWhat did you think my life looked like outside of work?â Kei sounded almost offended at the accusation. âThat i just sat at home waiting to come back to work?â
Jin gestured wildly, âYes! Youâre supposed to be some sad hermit that goes home from work and goes to sleep and goes to work and sometimes cries in the shower because you have no friends! Who is this guy?!â âYou know, it makes a lot of sense that your coworkers know nothing about you,â Kuroo said through a chuckle, âItâs very on brand. I mean it took me years to get you to even talk to me for real.â
âExcuse you, I always talked to you âfor realâ. You just werenât the best at taking things seriously in High School.â Kei ignored Jin reaction to the âHigh Schoolâ comment.
In turn, Kuroo ignored Kei, and turned to Jin smiling.
âYou knew each other in high school?â
âYup!â Kuroo was having way too much fun with this, âWe met when he was a first year, and I was a very, very stressed Third Year.â He turned to Kei with a soft smile, âI kinda miss those summer training camps.â
âTraining camps?â Jin seemed more intrigued than anything now. What could his loner, hermit, coworker possibly need to train for?â
âNot only does Kei work for this fine establishment,â Kuroo spoke with a grin as kei sighed, âHe is also a pro volleyball player on the second division team the Sendai Frogs. And married to the hottest man on the planet.â
Kei huffed, âYouâre so full of yourself.âÂ
âBut you love me anyway,â Kuroo leaned down while simultaneously tilting Keiâs chin up with a finger. Their lips pressed together softly. It was sweet and chaste.Â
When he pulled away he just smiled at his husband, ignoring the steam coming out of Jinâs ears.Â
Later on Kei had to deal with many of his coworkers asking if it was true that he played volleyball professionally, and asking about his husband. Though he wore his ring all the time so long as heâs not in a game, apparently his coworkers never seemed to really register that Tsukishima Kei could be married to someone as strange as Kuroo Tetsurou.
