#hafaza

The hafaza are the Islamic equivalent of the guardian angels.  However, rather than having one guardian angel each, Muslims have four hafaza.  Two keep a watchful eye on their charge during the day, while the other two look after them at night.  One of their tasks is to protect the soul of their charge from the attacks of Satan and other evil spirits.  They are better known, though, for recording their charge's good and bad deed.  The books these deeds are recorded in will be read on Judgment Day and will determine whether or not the person will be admitted into Heaven.
