I’m writing to let you know we’ll be shutting down Hackpad on July 19. I’m so grateful for all the enthusiasm and feedback from the Hackpad community over the last several years, and I’m excited to share what’s coming next.

That feedback has been really helpful for designing Dropbox Paper—a product inspired by the Hackpad community. With millions of docs created by teams around the world, Paper is off to an exciting start. Paper takes many of Hackpad’s best features—like instant collaboration, comments, and real-time editing—and adds a lot more, including additional security features, faster search, and more visibility for teams.

You can start using Paper today for free. I’d love to know what you think.

I’ve built a few options for moving your pads to make the transition as easy as possible.

Import your pads into Paper. I built an importer that helps convert your pads to Paper docs. You’ll need to create an account or sign in to get started.

Export your pads. You can export everything into a single zip folder if you’d prefer.

Do nothing. Your pads will automatically be migrated to Paper on July 19.

Opt out of the automatic migration. Your pads will be deleted on July 19.

I know changes like these can be inconvenient, and I want to help make the transition as smooth as possible. Visit Dropbox to learn more about Paper, or stop by the Help Center for more details about transitioning from Hackpad.

Os presento hoy algunas herramientas Web 2.0 muy útiles para realizar actividades de cooperativo informal en vuestras clases de filosofía y que dejarán alucinados a vuestros chicos. Suite à quelques échanges dans les commentaires ils nous a semblé nécessaire de procéder à un récapitulatif pour d’une part transformer une Xbox en console d’émulation rétro et d’autre part d’en faire une borne d’arcade. Attention, ce pseudo-tuto part du principe que vous savez lire quelques mots d’anglais technique, que vous savez comment mettre un disque dur IDE en “master” ou “slave” et faire…

When I start typing in a document on ipython.hackpad.com, I am met with this:

Sensible enough. I need to login before I am allowed to edit the document. I do this at least once a week, but it’s nice that it wants to be sure I’m me. After clicking my face, it is promptly replaced with this:

Awfully similar, but apparently Hackpad is also getting ready for the IPython/Jupyter split. Can’t blame them for that, I guess. After clicking my face again, I am directed to the remarkably familiar:

Fearing an infinite loop, I click my face a third time, and am met with what appears to be a step backwards:

I choose Google, which it seems like I had already chosen in the previous three login screens, which brings me here:

Hey, there’s my face again! Let’s click it.

That looks like progress! Accept permissions, and we are redirected back to Hackpad, and...

Not what I was hoping for. At this point, I can manually navigate to the original page and start using Hackpad, but not a super great finish to our fun little tour of OAuth.

Why I have a crush on Hackpad 

I use hackpad EVERYDAY at work. To be honest, when my startup’s PM first introduced hackpad into our workflow, I was a bit upset. What’s wrong with Google Docs? What is this light green hackpad thingy. Why can’t I change colors? I don’t understand how to use this...

...BUT after using it for a few weeks, I fell in love with hackpad! It’s SO convenient. Now, I use it for everything: meeting notes, discussion, sprint planning, to do lists, contact lists, journal, etc...(I have like TONS of secret pads now teehee).

Hackpad has made me a lot more productive and has helped the startup I work at become more collaborative.
