Science side of tumblr, explain this!!!

Well first, you need to know what a hackathon is. You can find some information on the Major League Hacking website. A hackathon is not what it sounds like, 

we are not breaking into people’s accounts or causing any security breaches. In a nutshell, a hackathon can be any number of people that get together for 24-36 hours to create. Whether they work in groups or choose to do something individually, the time is spent learning something new – starting a new language, working with APIs or different hardware – and creating something you didn’t think you could. The “hacks” created generally aren’t the most beautiful things and may not have all of the kinks worked out, but that’s not the point of these events. It’s to develop ideas. The saying when it’s crunch time is, “Fuck it. Ship it.” Meaning, let’s get this working.

Hackathons have been popping up everywhere. Especially in universities across the US. The events are free and food and shelter is provided. (No need to worry about a bed to sleep in, because very little sleep happens during these events).

Anyhow, HackFSU is the group at Florida State University that travels to these hackathons. In the spring we host our own hackathon called “HackFSU”. Just earlier this year we held our second ever hackathon with a 90′s theme. Here was our promotional video.
