You wanna know what I wanna see more of???(though everyones headcanons are totally valid and I'm not trying to make ppl feel like they're wrong for theirs) And I'm gonna preface this by saying that I myself am a child of divorce and a chronic people pleaser so I know(to a degree) what I'm talking about.
I wanna see Zoey and her divorced parents...BUT I want to see her parents being like...actually really chill people
Like they are actually really good parents to Zoey and good people over all, they just don't work well together romantically anymore. Even after they seperate they are actually very civil and even good friends with one another.
While they were mostly civil with one another, they would still argue a lot before they finally divorced. They tried to keep it away from Zoey, but Zoey's always been smarter than people give her credit for just because she focuses more on the things that interest her. She would hear or see them fight and argue and that would kind of mess her up.
Why did they only fight when they were at home with her??(they didn't, those were just the only times she was around to see)
Why did they only get happy after she left??(they miss her more than anything, she just left when they were in the middle of the divorce process, when they were the most stressed)
Why did they never let her help when they were stressed?? Was she that useless???(she was a child, they didn't want to burden her with their arguments, they didn't know they already had)
I just think there are a lot of layers that can be explored and dissected with Zoey still being messed up even coming from a loving home.
