Misa was damaged, needed therapy, and needed someone to be there for her. Light was a manipulator. You are ignoring all of the times Light told Misa he loved her. It is implied they had s** with each other. Light kept her around for years. And lastly i believe that Light never told Misa he was just using her. That was said in his narrative thoughts. And if he did tell her, she might have taken it a total different way because she was still grieving. He got engaged to Misa just to keep her with him, while he was doing that stuff with Takada. Misa thought he truly loved her, and how was she to know any different when Light was manipulating her left and right for her Shinigami eyes?
