Ultra Swap AU: Main Cast Reference Sheets
(oh god this took so long)
Finally! I had great fun working on these, even if they took longer than expected! I tried to pack in as much info as possible so I hope theyāre not too cluttered! I might have to make a little something that also goes into everyoneās different backstories ; although if I have to be honest it will probably be by text rather than art.
A few things that might need clarification:
-The ages given are human equivalents since aliens/kaijus tend to live to hundreds if not thousands of years old.
-Dada/Nine canāt pull the classic āDada faceā/canāt stay expressionless for long, unlike other Dadas
-Gyango is like... 12 ; and is pretty much the Hoshino of this universe. He lives in the MTF headquarters with Dada and Baltan.
-Baltan keeps the Beta Capsule in his right claw 24/7
-The Yuki in this AU is meant to be the same girl from Ultraman episode 30 (There are a few humans living on Seijin-1 in secret ; only one or two monsters being aware for each of them)

Top 5 Favorite Ultraman (1966) Monsters
Since Iāve just finished the original Ultraman series, I figured I might make a little list of my favorite monsters to close things off nice and proper! (Iāll probably do this for the other ultra series as well)
5. Pigmon: Iāll admit I didnāt care much for Pigmon in his first appearance ; but I loved seeing him again in the toy shop! Itās fun seeing a smaller monster and heās a nice contrast to all his āevilā counterparts.
4. Seabozu: A.k.a the monster that broke my heart. Heās so sweet (and I am positively salty about Ultraman still fighting him when he wasnāt even fighting back)! His episode is definitely one of my favorite.
3. Gyango: Heās like a more colorful and more gremlin-esque Gabara. His rotating ears were cute, his bastard attitude was super entertaining... And I might be wrong, but his fight (probably my favorite fight actually) felt like one of the first where Ultraman actually showed some personnality (trying to get Gyango to attack first, tapping his shoulder to get him to turn around, etc).
2. Baltan: Cicada-crab-squid!!! His design may be really hard to draw but I am IN LOVE with it! the swiveling eyes are a really cool element and I love the arrays of different abilities! Iām not a fan of the elongated Baltans from episode 16 ; but the og big boy is great!
1. Dada: What a surprise ; as if the description and banner of this blog werenāt indication enough... First of all, a dadaism-inspired kaiju? Yes please! The stripes, the lipstick, the haircut... If thatās not one of the most unique kaiju out there then I donāt know what is! Tsubaraya is also clearly having a lot of fun with their own character, seeing as theyāve used Dada as a love interest for Ultraman in commercials before. All in all, I really love this stripey seijin and Iām so glad they come back in later series! Looking forward to the next encounter!
