Of course because I am fueled by narrative rather than just concepts I sat there going "now how would this come about?" and so my brain made an AU where Wren was isekai'd to an early part of the timeline before Avec left his mountain monkey village. In this scenario she ended up struggling with the hardships of her adventure and no party members and eventually gave up her mission and settled into the location called Neon City. Through a series of happenstances she ends up becoming the gang leader of the local monkey beastmen (Called Demihumans) and posing as a weird looking Monkey herself (because they don't know what a human is and it's better to not be known as one) and picks up the rock star persona to "look the part of a confident badass" even though deep down she's a soft girl.

Eventually Avec leaves his mountain village like in the normal story but with a monkey rocker gang already in existence and being fresh out of home he doesn't have the same cocky confidence as Normal universe Avec, and is adopted into Wrens gang after he's pick pocketed in Neon City and despite finding her a weird ugly looking monkey she gives off an aura that he decides to make this ugly rocker monkey his whole personality.

He thrives in the monkey gang and the gang does well to keep the peace in Neon City and grows closer to Wren in the process, and Wren cultivates his growing self confidence until he seems like normal universe Avec just minus the cockiness and choking people. The guilt of abandoning her adventure eventually eats at Wren and Avec finds finds her gone one morning leaving only a note addressed to the whole gang, calling them her family and apologizing for leaving without saying a word but she believes the city is in good hands with them and she can't keep running away. Avec is torn up inside over her just leaving without a word and denying him the option to go with her, but steps up to take her place as the gang leader until they are reunited.
