Brooklyn Nets small forward Gerald Wallace won't play against the Pacers due to a leg contusion.
Brooklyn Nets small forward Gerald Wallace has been fined $5,000 by the NBA for committing his second violation of the league's anti-flopping rules, the league announced Wednesday. He is the second NBA player to receive a flopping fine this season, following in the footsteps of trail-blazing teammate Reggie Evans, who two weeks ago became the first victim of the league's new method of penalizing players who exaggerate or simulate contact in an attempt to draw phantom fouls against their opponents.
All things considered, the two-game suspension that Rajon Rondo got from the League is probably a light one. The NBA was expected to hand out a much harsher punishment, despite Rondo’s claims that he did nothing wrong last night. (The Brooklyn Nets faced no suspensions, but forward Gerald Wallace was dinged $35,000 for his role in the tussle.)
The NBA clearly agreed with Metta World Peace’s loud charges that Reggie Evans flopped egregiously in a game this week against the Los Angeles Lakers, and slapped him with a $5,000 fine. MWP was extremely happy to hear the news. Per the LA Times: “Metta World Peace loved to hear that Reggie Evans was fined $5,000 for flopping. ‘Yes!’ he said when informed by a reporter. He wasn’t so happy to learn that Brooklyn forward Gerald Wallace wasn’t fined by the NBA. Both players committed questionable flops when World Peace had the ball in the Lakers’ 95-90 victory Tuesday over Brooklyn. ‘Did you see those two flops from Gerald Wallace? C’mon now. That’s ridiculous,’ World Peace said. ‘In one possession, he flopped twice and just fell. It was crazy. It’s like, ‘Wow, what is that?’ It’s really funny, but it’s like, really, I don’t even know what to think anymore, to tell you the truth. It’s ridiculous. Totally ridiculous.’

You saw Kobe Bryant and Gerald Wallace talking lots of junk at the end of last night’s Lakers/Nets game. Bryant hinted at a possible wager between the two in postgame comments, which Wallace confirmed.
Nets small forward Gerald Wallace will miss Monday night's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to a sprained left ankle. Veteran Keith Bogans will start in his place.
