This purple doublet is an excellent example of how costumes are altered and adapted for new productions. The piece likely originated with the 1955 film đģđđ đĒđđđđ đąđđđđđ, where Basil Rathbone wore it as Sir Ravenhurst. It is possible that it came from an earlier production, as đģđđ đĒđđđđ đąđđđđđ did recycle some of its costumes.  The costume was used again in the 1961 film đēđđđ đžđđđđ đđđ đđđ đģđđđđ đēđđđđđđ, where Guy Rolfe wore it as Count Oga. The costume underwent alterations to give it the look of having slashed sleeves.  Want to learn more, or see more costumes from đģđđ đĒđđđđ đąđđđđđ? Visit our website!
