I always knew every day that I was loved, needed, wanted, right there in my home. From morning cuddles to night time grooming, our little routines, the weight of something that loves me on my lap every time I sit down, the little face waiting expectantly for me to be seated so he could climb on board… I’m going to be so lonely. I don’t know what to do. What do I sing to? What do I feed? What do I brush and cuddle and tell I love you, I love you, I love you so much?

I have to go home and clear out all of his things and look at the space where his food bowl was, where his litter tray was, where his brush was beside the bed and his little mug he loved to drink from on the night stand.

I have to face starting a new job where nobody will know about him. Nobody will know about us. I’ll just be the new starter who used to have a cat. They won’t know who he was or how much of me is missing now.
