#gunpla-kun

I've been eying this kit for a while and finally picked one up for myself. I'm not generally a fan of the chibi/SD-style kits, but this one just looked too cute to pass up.

It's a small box with just a single page of instructions. The whole build took me maybe half an hour.

This Limex plastic is really weird. Very soft with a velvety matte finish to it. And it marks super, super easy. It's also oddly heavy.

There's just a single foil sticker in the box - a bit of black that goes around the eyes. Obviously nothing egregious but I can't help feeling like that could've been properly color-separated.

Having said that, the color-separation is actually pretty fantastic for the head and torso. Lots of bright, vibrant colors and crisp molding. I mean, it's simple and chunky and exaggerated... But it looks really good.

The arms and legs are just basically sticks.

You get the little Gunpla-Kun guy as well as the runner display we'll see in just a moment... But there's also a beam rifle, shield, and beam sword.

The colors aren't great on the accessories - everything is just molded in a single color. And it's not even the right colors. I feel like the backpack and beam rifle should've been black.

I'm tempted to paint some of these details... Throw a bit of yellow on the shield's starburst... Or at least paint the beam sword's blade... But I'm not sure how paint would work with this Limex, and there's something to be said for the ridiculously simplicity of this kit as-is.

There's basically no articulation in this kit. The head can bobble around a bit on its ball-joint. The arms and legs can swing up/down a bit. But that's really it. You're not going to get anything expressive or dynamic out of this thing.
