Guildford grass or Onion grass (Romulea rosea ) it’s flowers are all through parts of the lawn today at Hillsborough Dog Show grounds. Other common name is rosy sandcrocus. The plant comes from the western Cape Province in South Africa. It is naturalised in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and California in the United States. It’s considered to be an environmental weed in much of Australia. Quite pretty in the lawn and REALLY tough stems. The corm (bulb) is said to be edible and to taste of water chestnuts with a bitter aftertaste. Also has an unusual seed capsule. #GuildfordGrass #OnionRrass #RosySandcrocus #RomuleaRosea #Weed #Lawn #SouthAfrica #SeedCapsule #Corm (at Hillsborough) https://www.instagram.com/p/CipBNimPcFL/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
