Costume College 2019 Guest Teacher: Elizabeth Barber, Textiles Historian.  Just a friendly reminder to make time out of your schedule to come see our amazing guest teachers! Elizabeth Wayland Barber has graciously agreed to be available for a book signing on Friday, July 26th as noted below.  The following are a list of books she has written should you wish to purchase and bring some.  WOMEN'S WORK: THE FIRST 20,000 YEARS (W.W. Norton, 1994).  Available in paperback. THE MUMMIES OF URUMCHI (also Norton, 1999).  Available in paperback.   She will also be bringing a few copies of PREHISTORIC TEXTILES (a great book explaining traditional European costume) and THE DANCING GODDESSES (4 copies from the Dean will be available for purchase as well).   Following is the schedule for her time with us including her unlimited classes: Friday, July 26th - 10:30am-11:45am– Women’s Work Lecture Friday, July 26th - 1:00pm-1:30pm – Book Signing in CoCo Registration Area Friday, July 26th - 1:30pm-2:45pm – What if you can’t touch? We are pleased to announce Laura Wong as our guest teacher! Laura is a licensed kimono dresser through the Yamano School and will be sharing her knowledge of over 20 years of study with us in lectures and a workshop. Announcing Costume College 2023 Guest Teacher #2: Chantal Filson! Our Bonus Track Guest Teacher this year, Chantal Filson, is probably well known to many long-time attendees. She has attended and taught at Costume College for many years, and after moving back to New York, purchasing an 1866 Victorian house and refurbishing it, she now runs Costume-On: An Online Conference for Historical Costuming (www.costumeon.com) along with teaching a supplemental series of online Master Classes. After 26 years in costume design for film/television (www.cfilson.com), Chantal is now the Costume Supervisor and speaker at Genesee Country Village & Museum in NY. A love for puzzles and 19th century fashion led to a pattern line of hats, featuring period styles taken from original sources and not found elsewhere. Announcing Costume College 2023 Guest Teacher #1: Jez Roth! Owner of the School of Cosplay, and recent guest of LVL-UP Expo 2023, Jez has a resume that includes Cirque du Soleil, Celebrities, Film, and Animation. He specializes in creating costumes that give the illusion of being metal, armor, plastic, but are 100% fabric. His creations include everything from tailored suits to costumes that shoot water, enormous puppets, and monsters in his studio and has traveled the world due to his work. Jez recently moved his School of Cosplay to a bigger location near the heart of Las Vegas! The School of Cosplay offers classes in all disciplines of costume arts. It also supports the community through outreach, education, and passes along the universal message that Cosplay is for everyone. Lover of languages, dogs, tea, roses, and ballroom dancing, he is delighted to return to Costume College as a Guest Teacher!
