He didn’t even get a chance to ask before the sharp pain sliced into his wrist, causing him to clutch the bracelet in his hand and stagger back in agony. A few voices already rang out, but again, he wasn’t too preoccupied with them. 

It wasn’t until he began to lose feeling of the pain; of everything, actually, before he noticed a few figures rush to his side--instantly meeting with the cold hard ground. 

“Sigma!” 

“No! Sigma! Can you hear me?!” 

The voices persisted as he tried to pull himself up back to his seemingly dull, numb feet. He couldn’t, and instead, a pair of soft, warm hands enveloped his shaking frame. At first he assumed Phi had rushed to his side, and, while she did, she took no part in holding the old man. Instead, it was Luna, with a serious look of fear and pain in her eyes when he tried to glance up. 

“Ah...” He breathed, physical movement growing more and more difficult by the second. With the Soporil already helping shut down his body, all that was left was for the tubocurarine to flow though and wither the man down to nothing. Sigma forced himself to keep himself responsive, just uttering the first things that came to mind, “...How... H-How did...” 

How did Alice to the AB Room in time and unnoticed to pick Betray? He’d never truly find out. 

“Hah... S-So... Fuzz...” 

The world around him was starting to collapse as he held on to something, anything, to keep him alive. There! There was Luna, gazing down upon him. Keep your focus on her, maybe you can fight it off! Keeping his eyes open was a challenge, speaking was next to impossible. His breath came out in heavy heaves as he tried to scrape together the last of his dying moments. 

“...Lu...Luna...” It took a copious amount of strength for that breath alone, “Eh... E-Es... cape... Be... S-Safe...”

He’d start with a slight fidgeting of his hands, a practice he’d not often but subconsciously do at times of guilt, even in his youth. His good eye would gaze towards the ground as his voice picked up softly with a slow start, “Luna, I... I truly never anticipated to share a great bond with you...” In usual fashion, Klim’s words would probably sound far more harsh than he’d intend them to be and only make himself feel even worse.

In rebuttal to his own actions, he’d hold up a hand, “Please, allow me to explain. When I had created you, your only purpose was to serve and assist in the AB Project. No more, and, well, no less. It took you years, Luna--decades, even, to build you. A lot happened in that time. During your planning, I... I lost someone far too dear to me, and in a state of panicked grief, I postponed nearly all of my work for far too long. Even more idiotic than that was how I coped with the tragedy. Instead of accepting it, I reused it all together and wanted to bring that woman back, so...” He would pause and gather together his words, choosing  his words carefully as if regret was laced within them, “...So I decided to reconstruct her.” 

The doctor would pause again, feeling a selfish guilt arise from the actions he was recalling. He was young and stupid in that time, and looking back, it would been easier just to move on from the pain. “Your plans were changed,” Klim would pick right back up in his speech, “Instead of solely being used for the AB Project, now, in addition, were also a... erm... a replacement...” The doctor would cringe at such a foul word, disgust evidently clinging off his lips. 

“Years after that, I had needed to introduce new life to the project as a means of safety and protection. Failed attempt after failed attempt, I was about ready to abort that leg of the mission... That’s when Kyle was born. As he grew up, he wanted... well... a mother. So by now, coming close to your final completion, you now had three duties: Serving in the AB Project, being a... replacement for someone I loved, and a parental figure towards Kyle.” 

His last words would have hung in the air, with the both of them probably recalling the way Kyle rejected the poor gaulem at first sight. It was wrong of him to act that way; but it was also wrong for the doctor to assume it would all work out...
