Akumu doesn't exist, it just overcomplicates things.
Anyways, enjoy the fic.
It was almost too quick that the 3 managed to teleport, so much so that Asriel felt a little dizzy. But, they were here.
âoh look, we actually ended up in the right place,â Sans said, sarcastically. Kepa looked over at him, raising an eyebrow.
âWait, I thought you knew how to teleport to specific locations-â Kepa tried to say, before Asriel interrupted him by putting his hand on his shoulder.
âit'll be a while until i can teleport us out,â Sans said, as he started looking around some more, âso let's check on those recordings.â
Asriel slowly approached the big computer terminal in the center of the room. It was almost too big, but maybe that was just him.
âHey, so,â Kepa asked, âwhat are we looking for, exactly?â Asriel looked to him for a moment, before looking at Sans, still checking out the room.
âI have a feeling that the Presidentâs security had something to do with this whole mess,â Asriel answered, as he turned back to the computer. âWhatever they did at the rally, it's all recorded. And they're probably trying to hide it somewhere here.â Asriel pressed the on button, as the PC began to boot up. âJust gotta find where...â
âOkay, so,â Kepa approached Asriel, as the login screen popped up, âHOW exactly are we supposed to find it?â
Asriel looked to Kepa for a minute, before answer: âThatâs simple, we just search their files and then-â
âNo, really, how? We donât even know their login.â
Asriel looked back to the PC, before just randomly guessing the password.
âI mean, seriously, Az,â Kepa continued, âIt would have to take millions of tries to get it right. Thereâs no way weâll get it right on the first try- and you got it right on the first try.â
Asriel looked in shock for a minute. âWait, I thought it would be harder than just âPassword1234!â.â
Kepa blinked for a moment. ââPassword1234!â? Babe, who would ever put their password as âPassword1234!â?!â
âApparently the Presidentâs security.â
Kepa looked for a minute, before replying: âYeah, they would probably do that all things considered.â
Asriel started looking through the files, searching for footage at the exact moment Papyrus did their thing. It couldnât be that hard to find footage from-
âŠ
No.
No, that canât be.
There was no footage. At all.
Asriel sat there, not comprehending. How could there not be footage from today?
âhow funny, this room doesn't have cameras,â Sans commented, reminding the room of his existence.
âSans look,â Asriel replied, getting Sans attention just enough that he looked over, slowly starting his walk to the terminal. âThereâs nothing here. The footage mustâve been deleted.â
Kepa looked for a minute, before replying: âOkay, shit, we got nothing. Letâs just go back before we get discovered and-â
âKeep looking,â Sans replied, his voice carrying an air of seriousness that it usually never did.
Asriel looked to Sans for a minute, before continuing his search. There had to be something here, right? Files upon files of nothing but boring meetings and PAM rallies, nothing at all related to the situation at hand. There had to be something here-
A file caught Asrielâs attention.
âClassififed, PAM eyes only.â
Asriel looked to the others, who looked back at him. Asriel clicked on the folder, opening it to hundreds of recordings, all from throughout the city.
âThis is every part of the city,â Kepa commented. âBut why these recordings-â
âWait,â Asriel interrupted Kepa, accidentally. âThis is footage of Chara.â
Asriel clicked on it, revealing a video of Chara grabbing Betty and shoving them out of the way of⊠nothing.
âHuh,â Asriel, almost too audibly asked. âWhy would Chara do that?â
âCheck another one,â Kepa asked, as Asriel clicked out of the folder, looking through more strange and unusual videos.
âthis one is from the meeting day. in front of gaster's lab,â Sans noted.
The video started playing, revealing Betty slowly walking away from the building, her face covered in shadows.
âBetty,â Asriel asked, quietly.
âWait, wasnât she sleeping at Gasterâs lab during all this,â Kepa asked. Sans looked back and nodded.
Asriel closed the video and clicked on another one, this one at Torielâs school.
All he saw was a⊠Pink blob things scurrying across the floor, before hiding in one of the corners.
âWhat the fuck is that,â Kepa asked, quietly.
âhell if I know,â Sans answered, as the video was closed, and Asriel hovered over one more.
âSo, remember, do not mention the plan to anyone,â one of the people in the video said offscreen, supposedly a PAM member.
âGot it,â another one said, just as they started walking out into the frame. The three watched more intently, as the two waited, and waited, untilâŠ
What.
The.
Fuck.
âYou know what to do,â Betty commanded, before looking at the Camera and destroying it with a pink blob.
The three stood in stunned silence, unable to process it. Betty, the innocent cute girl who wouldnât hurt a fly, the one behind ALL of this?
âOh god,â Kepa muttered under his breath
âit⊠it was all her,â Sans noted, looking at the others with a stunned expression.
âAll this timeâŠ," Asriel tried to process it, "it was right under our noses⊠How did she-â
Sans turned to them, âwe have to go.â
Kepa and Asriel looked at Sans, their faces looking on in shock.
âwe have to warn the others,â Sans continued, readying his teleport, âbefore she-â
Kepa didnât get to finish his sentence, before the door to security opened up, revealingâŠ
Oh god.
The three turned to look at Betty, Kepa and Asriel attempting to act innocently, while Sans turned to be on guard.
âOh, h- hey Betty,â Kepa greeted, almost too enthusiastically, âWha- What are you doing here on this fine night-â
âIâm sorry,â Betty interrupted Kepa.
âWhat,â Asriel replied in response, tense as ever.
âIt seems you found out the truth,â Betty continued, her gray eyes seeming even darker now, as she approached, silently. â âAnd so soon as well. I was going to tell everyone soon enough, but it seems you got there before me⊠Though, I suppose you should know one more thing. I've lied about two more things. My nameâŠand my soul. â
âO- Okay,â Asriel responded, as he eyed Sans, his face almost completely stern, watching Bettyâs every move like a predator watching its prey.
Or prey watching its predator.
âMy name⊠isn't Betty,â she continued, as her eyes closed almost completely, her tone growing almost clinical, âIt's âBetĂȘ Noire.ââ
Then she tilted her head down, covering it in shadow.
âand my traitâŠâ
Betty looked them head on, her expression an uncanny, inhuman smile, her eyes now shining an inhuman pink.
âis FEAR.â
Sans reacted first, as he held out his hand, ready to teleport them out of the room. âletâs go-â
He didnât even finish his sentence before Sans was on the ground, weakened from the same blast that knocked him out before.
âSANS,â Asriel and Kepa screamed, almost in unison, as they rushed to Sans' side, barely catching a glance at the man who took the shot.
âI must say,â Betty replied, her voice now almost playful, âyour soul is very special for a monster, Asriel.â She held out her hand, almost like holding an object. âMind if I borrow it for a moment? Iâm just curious.â
Asriel got up, fear and rage taking him over.
âSTAY AWAY,â Asriel yelled at the top of his lungs, as he prepared to summon one of his swords-
Suddenly, inexplicably, he was back in the ruins. He felt younger, like he was a kid again. But how? Why-
âAsriel?â
That voice.
It canât be.
Asriel turned around and-
âFrisk?â
Sans and Kepa looked at Asriel as he said that, as he stood there, motionless, as if he was in a trance.
âAsriel, snap out of it,â Kepa begged, as he rushed up to Asriel, grabbing hold of him, leaving Sans all alone.
âHe canât hear you, neither of you,â Betty said, as Sans looked her dead in the eyes.
âDonât worry, he wonât feel a thing,â Betty continued, as she summoned a pink, sharp spear. âIâll make this quick.â
Kepa looked for a minute, fear filling his heart, before shaking Asriel. âCome on, babe, snap out of it!â
He didnât move.
âAsriel, please,â Kepa begged, tears in his eyes.
Betty smiled, as he threw the spear right at him.
âASRIEL!â
Asriel finally snapped out of it, looking at Kepa, his face in tears, and-
Asriel and Kepa barely had time to react before Sans somehow teleported right in front of the two. Just as the spear pierced him.
Sansâ white, Monster soul, shone for a minute, his blood covering the two, as shock filled their hearts.
The Spear left Sansâ body, causing it to fall into the twoâs arms, as they dragged him away from Betty, dust slowly filling the air.
âHang in there, man, weâll think of something,â Kepa reassured, falsely, as Asriel Held onto him, sobbing.
âCome on, itâs going to be okay, Sans, youâll live,â Asriel replied, barely keeping his composure together.
âWeâll⊠I-â Asriel started to sob, almost breaking down right there-
âAsriel⊠KepaâŠâ
Sans' voice brought the two back to reality. Sans looked up at them and, for a minute, smiled, weakly.
âE- enjoy the future⊠for meâŠâ
âNo,â Asriel held on tightly. âNonononono!â
A chomp filled the room, as Sansâ body faded to dust.
âŠ
Asriel slowly stood up, black marks slowly fading onto his face, as rage filled his heart. Kepa looked up, just in time to see him ignite a flame in his hand.
âHE WAS MY FRIEND!â
Kepa looked and yelled, âAsriel, Wait-â
The flame moved faster than his words, only to be blocked just as easily by Betty as his words were by Asrielâs rage.
It didnât deter him.
He tried again, harder this time. Still nothing.
Then again.
And again.
And again.
Still, nothing.
Asriel started to grow weak. Barely being able to throw another flame at her, this one weaker.
âNoâŠâ Asrielâs voice wavered. âI wonât⊠Let you get away with thisâŠâ Asriel approached closer, and closer and thenâŠ
Collapsed, right at her feet.
âI⊠I wonât let you winâŠâ
Betty chuckled.
âI thought youâd be stronger than that,â she asked, sarcastically, before summoning yet another spear. âOh wellâŠâ Betty threw the spear at Asriel-
Before a green shield blocked its path.
Asriel didnât have time to react before he was grabbed by Kepa, being dragged across the room.
âASRIEL, WE HAVE TO GO,â Kepa yelled back, as he summoned a bow, and launched a Justice arrow right into the wall ahead of them, causing orange sunlight to flood the room.
It was their only chance of escape.
âNo, we canât-â
âAsriel, shut up, I canât see you die too,â Kepa didnât even let Asriel finish his sentence, only turning back to see the same man that shot Sans aim right at him.
Another green shield came up, blocking whatever attack was behind him that Kepa didnât want to see. He just started running, as far away as he could.
âKepa, we have to go back,â Asriel shouted at him, his voice filled with exhaustion.
âAsriel, if we go back, we die,â Kepa responded, as he slowly approached the beach, the hotels to his right seeming like an impassable wall of exploitation.
He looked back to Asriel, watching as his legs barely kept up with him. Kepa looked back, looking for any signs of their pursuers.
There was no one behind them.
Kepa slowly stopped running, until he was standing on the beach, holding an exhausted, crying Asriel.
âWe have to go back, we-â Asriel didnât even get to finish his sentence, before he broke again, and collapsed onto the beach.
âFuck,â Asriel screamed, as the waves carshed over him, drenching him in saltwater and washing away his tears. Kepa rushed up to him, holding him close.
âFuckâŠâ Asriel sobbed, quietly, as he held onto Kepa, too tired to even stand up, even as another wave crashed over them.
The sun sank into the sea, as the air slowly became illuminated with the blue ghostlight of dusk.
