“How are you actually studying?” Barty inquired, clearly bored from spending a mere five minutes sitting in this godforsaken quiet library; it was like being at home all over again -- silence and loneliness. 

“ -- what?” Dorcas asked, turning away from her reading, “say that again.” 

Dorcas Meadowes had successfully managed to sneak out of a party ( a party she had been dragged to, thanks to her persuasive friends )... but bumping into someone in the middle of the corridor, in her current state of dress, had not been something she was expecting. 

“... great, this assignment is going to take all fucking night,” Barty complained, glancing up at the stars and wondering why he ever decided to sign up for astronomy -- oh wait, it was too piss his father off. 

“... I told you, I don’t mind wearing sunglasses,” Barty insisted, trying to cover up his black eye. The Slytherin now hated hooligans more than his prefect duties; which was saying something, since he prefect duties led him directly into trouble. 

Sitting out by the black lake, Sirius took a generous swig of firewhiskey, ignoring the burn as the fiery liquid slid down his throat. Although he’d not invited anyone to come down and join him, the Gryffindor figured that at least one of his mates would stop by - the spot a frequent favorite. 

“... you have disturbed my nap, to tell me what?” Barty asked, frankly annoyed he had to spend this portion of time forcibly conversing rather than sleeping. 

“ -- merlin, you scared me,” Dorcas admitted, not expecting someone to suddenly appear behind her on the track. She had been running ( as one would do to relieve stress ), but had remained oblivious to her surroundings.
